Terrible System
Pentair automation is horrible. It works 30% of the time. App and automation are a solid D at best. How can they be this bad in 2026?
App unresponsive
App is totally unresponsive! I’ve followed all the steps to restore. Nothing. It died.
Never worked!
Absolutely the most frustrating thing. Never worked ....ever. No one can help
Clunky App
This is a clunky app that doesn't work a lot of the time.
The Local WiFi connection stopped working in 7.8
7.7 it was working again but in 7.8 the local WiFi connection to the screen logic app won’t connect. Please help!!
Works good
Had almost 0 trouble - had to reinstall once cause it wouldn’t connect but that’s all 👍🏼
Pool pump controller
It used to connect automatically when I turned on the app on my phone. Now it is a sever step process to connect. I have to search my history in the app to find the pump then put in a password. Annoying.
When it works, it’s OK
But more often than not, it’ll connect to show blank data. you reboot things eventually maybe it starts working again. It’s one of the flakiest things I’ve ever used.
Killed Alexa. App looks like 2005. And the last update was “1y ago”…
Today's pool opening surprise: Pentair is killing Alexa support. Of course they are.
The hardware is great. The app is something else entirely. We are living through the most accessible era of software development in history. A teenager with an AI coding assistant can ship a better-looking, more reliable iOS app in a weekend than what Pentair has produced in a decade. ScreenLogic Connect looks like a high school project from twenty years ago, the connection logic is famously flaky, and the official troubleshooting step is to take a paperclip and press the protocol adapter's reset button exactly three times with a half-second gap between presses. I am not making that up. That is the documented fix in 2026.
Meanwhile, unpaid volunteers on GitHub have written Homebridge plugins and a Home Assistant integration that talk directly to the gateway, skip the Pentair cloud entirely, and never break. The most reliable Pentair software is software Pentair didn't write. Read that sentence twice.
If you're shopping for pool automation right now: the Pentair hardware is fine, but plan to control it through Homebridge or Home Assistant from day one. Do not build your routines on the official app or the official skills. They will be discontinued, broken, or 'improved' into uselessness on a regular schedule.
Pentair, please hire a real software team. Or just adopt the open-source projects that already work better than yours. Anything would be an upgrade.

Slow if it works that day
We’ve had ours 5 years now and it rarely woks. Sucks there’s no other options.
Awful
Only thing worse than this app is the pool company that installed our pool. App rarely works and hot tub never works. It’s a match made in heaven.
Unreliable
I hate having to use this garbage app. It works half the time, at best. Some of my expensive pool features are only available through this piece of junk. It sucks having to rely on it and not being able to control my own pool. DO NOT USE.
Will not work with Apple software update 26
Will not interact with Apple 26.3 software update
Chooses when to work and when to not work.
This app needs someone to give it an overhaul. It’s pretty much useless 50% of the time.
Screen illogic disconnect
Very dissatisfied with this system; too many bugs;
Garbage Design
This app is insultingly bad. It’s not obviously clear (for most features / options) whether they’re on or off because the developers decided to not simply use toggle indicators. It’s not simple to determine whether any particular pool feature is running or disabled. There’s no way to synchronize the time to the pool system. There’s no way to control a countdown timer even though there’s an entire section confusingly-labeled “Egg Timers”. Everything about this app screams, “I was designed by people born before the 80s (who are not familiar with iOS and think everything should look like Windows 3.1) and coded by the least expensive international developers the company could find.”

Poor connections with Apple Phones
This app frequently doesn’t connect when using Apple phones
App Won’t Connect
My app can’t even find my system for me to login anymore. The app needs an update!
Disappointment
I tried to get this app to help me connect my app to the Internet and they took me all over the landscape and left me nowhere close to a solution. The problem isn't unsolvable it just isn't a priority for them
Code rot?
This app worked well for a number of years deserving a five star rating. In the last year, as Apple made significant changes to the iOS, the app has begun to misbehave. I am confident this is due to the Apple iOS 26 debacle now unfolding. Nevertheless, the app now is failing. I beg Pentair to put some money on this and update the app. My problem today, Dec. 28, 2025, the app freezes and seems to have lost control of the heater. No error, just a frozen app.
