Search feature SUCKS
Ive been a subscriber for a long time and finally canceled out of frustration. A couple of years ago Scribd changed its search feature. It says you can search by author, title or topic but you cannot. It only returns categories. The search feature sucks.

BEWARE: Immediately $17.11 charge when you sign up for “free” trial
Free trial is a joke. The second I initiated the free trial I got a bank notification that $17.11 had been charged to my account. First of all the subscription fee itself was only touted as $11.99 so why am I getting a 43% up charge definitely not just taxes added on. I would’ve rather spent that money towards the real book I was trying to read instead if I knew I was going to be charged. Absolutely livid do not use this app.

Not at all what it used to be
I’ve been subscribed to scribd/Everand for about 10 years. They split apps a few years ago but atleast the functionality was there. Now everything is limited or requires some other plan. I canceled my subscription. Just buy the books elsewhere for cheaper

Canceling is a joke
The app and the web browser will not let you cancel your account. They will continue to charge you even though you have asked for it to be canceled.

200M Documents and Can’t Find Any
This is a terrible app right from the get go. The search bar doesn’t execute the search. If you can’t find anything even related to the subject you want, it is useless. Maybe if you actually put some work into the app, people wouldn’t keep cancelling their subscription?
Fraudulent practices
Continued to charge my credit card months after cancellation, I came to find out hundreds of customers had filed complaints for same thing, it is completely fraudulent behavior do not give them your credit card information

I have cancelled over a year ago. I kept getting billed even though I reported my card if fraud through my bank and they issued me a new one with a new number. I emailed support because they don’t have a phone number (convenient) and they said my account has been cancelled way back in 2024. I just got charged again on the 30th. I am beyond frustrated. I am reaching out to a lawyer because this is insanity and I’m not the only one this is happening too. Class action lawsuit …get ready scribd or whatever you want to call yourselves these days

DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS APP
Don’t sign up for the free trial. It says you won’t be charged anything for a free month, but when I canceled, a $1 transaction appeared. It was refunded within a minute, showing that I had received a refund. However, later I was charged twice for $1.50. I hope they don’t take money from my account again without my consent, because this time it was $3, but they could take more from someone else.

Free trial a scam, steer clear
Be very weary of the free trial and how difficult scribd will make it for you to cancel before the first charge. Even when you manage to hit the cancel button you’ll be met with a ‘sorry to see you go’ msg. But that’s not the end of it. You have to scroll down to the bottom to find a very small and hidden ‘confirm cancellation’ link
