No longer works

As a totally blind iPhone user, this app was a total game changer when it came to taking selfies! Unfortunately since the iOS 26 update, this no longer works either with or without VoiceOver. You have to uninstall and reinstall every single time. Pointless.

App is not working on the iPhone 16e

I got my haircut and I was getting rid of you use the SelfieX app and it is not working. Did they shut it down? It’s a great app for blind people. They usually use that need to use that technology for the Face ID to let you know to left right or different things in that nature so you’ll be able to activate the Face ID on the iPhone for Blind people that’s what they need to do anyway that I can come up with a new software update for this app to fix whatever problem make it to where we can’t go and take our pictures, especially we already paid for some of the voices on there. The job said we get the key. The app is not opening the iPhone 16 thank you.

Being honest

This app is a pretty good app it sometimes doesn't capture the best angles I asked my be my eyes app and it said it wasn't the best ankle but it still gives you a general area and a pretty good picture though you still have to position the camera slightly but I think it gives you a pretty good picture anyways but you still have to experiment a little bit but it's pretty easy to take a picture this is a great app for blind people like me

Good concept but needs customization

The app should have a countdown option after detecting the face instead of automatically taking the picture upon detecting a smile. While detecting a smile and taking the picture automatically is a nice feature, not everyone wants to smile in every picture.

ads… 🙄

the functionality of the app is great, but there needs to be a way to get rid of ads; there’s a plethora of voices for sale for $.99, but not one option to pay to get rid of ads. ads in a camera app it’s just infuriating.

also, the response between when the voice says “cheese“ and the shutter click is WAY too quick; there should be a second or two to prepare yourself.

FAQ

What does SelfieX do?

SelfieX allows you to take selfies using your iPhone's superior rear camera. It provides audio instructions to help you frame your shot perfectly without needing to see the screen, and automatically takes the photo when you're in position.

How does the audio guidance work?

The app listens for your voice and provides spoken directions like 'right,' 'left,' 'up,' or 'down' to help you adjust your phone's position. Once your face is correctly framed in the rear camera's view, the app will automatically capture the photo.

Can I edit my selfies after taking them?

Yes, after capturing your selfie, you can quickly edit it within the app. Available editing options include cropping the image and adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation to enhance your photo before saving or sharing.

Is this app free to use?

The app is free to download and use, offering core functionality for taking and editing selfies. Additional features or advanced options may be available through in-app purchases.

What are the main benefits of using the rear camera for selfies?

The rear camera on iPhones generally has a higher resolution and better image quality compared to the front-facing camera. Using SelfieX allows you to leverage this better quality for significantly improved selfie photos, even without seeing the screen during capture.
