Thank you for your feedback and suggestion! We completely understand you’d like the app to work in the background (or even when fully closed) like WhatsApp or IMO, where incoming calls can arrive without keeping the app running. However, there’s an important difference depending on the type of device you’re using: Since you’re using a Bluetooth Device, the connection is direct point-to-point via Bluetooth and does not rely on the internet or any server. Because of this, the phone system has no way to wake up our app from the outside through push notifications — the app must stay running in the background to maintain the Bluetooth connection and respond to calls in real time. Almost all apps that connect to Bluetooth devices (e.g. certain Bluetooth doorbells, headsets, watches, car kits, etc.) have the same requirement — background mode must be kept active. This is a limitation of how Bluetooth works on mobile operating systems, not something we intentionally designed this way. That said, if you’re using a Remote Device (server-based connection), the experience is completely different: Even if the app is fully closed, we can still receive incoming call notifications through the internet just like WhatsApp or IMO — no need to keep the app in the background. We chose the current approach for Bluetooth devices because it provides the most stable and lowest-latency experience possible. We’re always exploring ways to optimize battery usage while keeping the connection reliable, and we’ll make improvements as soon as the mobile OS gives more flexibility for Bluetooth background behavior.
