To be fair, it's probably a combination of the app and the tool I'm trying to connect--but it's a crapshoot whether it will connect after 10 tries or just not at all. I would never buy another thing that uses this app to connect because what a waste of money

You need to connect via WiFi!
Works great! I thought it was not working because I was trying to connect via bluetooth to the device. The solution is to connect via WiFi like if you were trying to connect to your internet router
