About

Sleep well tonight and a piece of the world becomes yours. Sleep Map is a single-player, non-competitive sleep-habit app. Pick your hometown, set the hours you mean to keep, and put the phone down at bedtime. Keep the night and, in the morning, you claim a place — the one next to ground you already hold, spreading outward from home a night at a time. A bad night just slows things down. It never takes anything back. Territory you have earned stays earned, always. There is no punishment here and nobody to lose to. Every place tells you something true about itself before you go under. Not a travel brochure — one specific, surprising, real thing, in about a hundred words. The town where the movies were made before Hollywood existed. The neighborhood where New York City quietly runs out. The English city that holds the oldest football club on earth. The Swedish town whose beaches are made of shells. Many places also carry someone who was born there, with their photograph and their story. Version 1.1 covers fourteen: the United States, Canada, the British Isles, the Nordics, Oceania, and nine more across Europe. 3,422 places across 137 regions, with 3,169 stories and 3,295 photographs. The rest of the world is drawn on the map, unlit, with its stories already in place — it will arrive in later versions. HOW A NIGHT WORKS Set your bedtime and your wake time. When bedtime comes, start the night and put the phone down. Pick it back up in the morning within the window you set, and the place is yours. Miss the window and you keep everything you had; you just try again tonight. You can let Apple Health confirm the night for you instead, if you would rather not rely on the phone-down honor system. That is optional, and the app works completely without it. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO No account. No sign-in. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and nothing to buy. Your sleep times and your map live on your device and are deleted when you delete the app. Every word you read ships inside the app — the stories, the whole map — so it works on a plane with the wifi off. The photographs load from our image host when there is a connection and fall back to a drawn mark when there isn't. Searching for your hometown goes through Apple Maps, and the app never asks for your location. No streak shaming, no leaderboards, no competition, and no notifications you did not ask for. It's a map of a life, drawn in good nights.

What's New in Sleep Map

1.1.0

August 13, 2026

Sleep Map reaches Europe. Ireland to the Urals, Iceland to Sicily — thousands more places to claim a night at a time, each with its own story and its own photograph. The journal has changed too. Nights you skipped now show up alongside the ones you slept and the ones you missed, in a month calendar at the head of the tab. You can hide either kind in Settings if you'd rather not see them. Your ground is still yours. It always will be.
