Falls way short of expectations

This is a concierge vet - ie expensive at $1,500 annually - while they are good with quick appointments they are terrible at follow up - getting test results etc. impossible to call them in Bethesda without going through a New York number and then go through 4 menus to select operator and 60% of the time they don’t answer. The app is geared for booking appointments - the Chat feature often has a 30-60 min wait - I paid $1,500 a year for this??!!?

They randomly try to charge your credit card

I signed up for a free account over a year ago. I never used the service and they just tried to charge my credit card $179.

Difficulty speaking with the team over the phone

The practice communicates by chat/text message which is convenient at times but unfortunately led to miscommunication and can become difficult when conversations require communication over the phone.

The Very Best

You can’t get any better! We have moved many times over the past 20 years and seen many different Dr’s for our various dogs.
The Small Door team has been far beyond the best of them. No question about it, they have exceeded all expectations and we could not ask for more from a provider. Our last dog was diagnosed w/ heart disease and given a life expectancy of maybe a year. She lived almost 4 more years happy and comfortable. We attribute this wholly to the care and guidance we received from Small Door and their network of specialists.

Venture Capital Funded Vet

Feels extremely corporate and impersonal. Pricing feels deliberately opaque

Expensive but worth it

I hate how expensive everything is, yet the care is unparalleled.

It feels like a Car salesman office

When you enter the location in Brooklyn, not only it’s small , the staff are not friendly at all. All they are focused on is to charge your account for whatever they are selling that day! I will not renew my membership. Especially since you can’t reach anyone on the phone!

Cannot manage account membership or payment

Once you start the service, there is no option to cancel or edit membership. No way to remove the credit card on file. Please fix this.

Small door has been great

My Favorite Vet moved out of town, and before she left, she recommended Small Door. They have been the best veterinary care I could hope for. They are extremely organized and offer many solutions to any health issues my pup faces. Highly recommend.

Charged after canceling

Asked 4 times to end membership. Still charged my credit card. Nobody returns my call.

Money hungry thieves

Pay for going, pay for not going, pay for rescheduling too rediculous

Call center

Doesn’t allow you to reach out in efficient and fast way the office of competence

Disappointing

Where to start? First this applies to the 14th St location in DC. The support staff has been incredibly rude to me and my partner and at times have shown gross laziness and incompetence. Staff cuts corners on the wellness exam but sure they will charge $100 for it. The office’s late policy is completely ridiculous given a major city and the lack accessibility for vehicles, keep in mind you can’t exactly just walk long distances with a sick pup. How about a little empathy and understanding? No, they’ll threaten to charge you for being late and never apologize for long wait times on their end. I always feel like I’m being milked for money instead of myself and my pup being of genuine concern to them. The office may seem nice and flashy but the complete lack of empathy and emotional connection makes it an incredibly uncomfortable and cold setting. Finally, aside from this option there’s no opportunity to rate a visit or provide feedback. So I hope this review is useful to any DC consumer looking for a vet. Look elsewhere!

Disappointed

We went today for a nail trim and the first nurse was really rude. Didn’t interact with the dog at all she started only discussing pricing matters and didn’t neither give a treat for my dog to be welcomed. Of course the dog didn’t follow to go with her and a second one came which she was little better! My experience today was awful! They used to have also a different receptionist not the one that was there today and she was really friendly and welcoming! You need to work on your customer service. My dog can’t attend a clinic that they are not welcoming and don’t treat her with love!!!!!

Excellent care for pets and their humans!

The doctor’s nurses and staff are so thoughtful and knowledgeable. My rescue dogs can be skittish at the vet, but Small Door knows how to soothe their nerves and make them feel brave!

Thank you, Small Door!

I trust Small Door

My little papillon has been a patient of small door for years now. He has been seen by different doctors and nurses, and all staff have been friendly, patient, professional and knowledgeable.
