Never works
Brought a wifi panel for the grill that never works the main app won’t connect and this app hardly works with the grill 👎🏻
The grill not shown on APP
I have reinstalled the app and tried to connect with my grill, followed 6 steps of connecting to the app, it shows connected to the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on the way, but in the end i can’t find my grill, i have repeatedly added my grill but nothing changed….
Needs some work
I love Louisiana Grills and their smokers are incredible. The app looks polished but lacks functionality. Alerts/push notifications don’t work to let you know when the meat prob has reached its desired temp meaning I have to constantly check the app to see the temp the meat. It would be nice to be able to remotely start the grill from a local wifi connection the way I can on my GMG wifi pellet smoker when the power button is toggled on. The initial pop up app on the start up screen needs to be deleted. Being able to set various stages of temps for when the meat hits a certain temp would be nice. For example, smoke at 180 F until meat reaches 165 F then have the grill heat up to 225 F until final meat temp is reached. Estimate time to finish cooking would be cool and a stopwatch feature that keeps track of how long your current cook has been going for would also be a nice touch. There is great potential for this app if you are able to add some standard features that other apps currently provide. All suggestions I provided are current options on my GMG grill. Log out log in issue with App
Had not used my smoke it app in a good while and the app had been updated. Because of the update it would not let me sign in or out. Called the support number and got connected with Danny in less then 5 minutes. After discussing the issue we walked through the steps of getting my app up and running. The issue was over in less than 10 mins and Danny was extremely helpful. This review is more about the customer experience with Danny’s assist. Thank you!

Vanishing Account
I’ve had this app for over a year. Initially my issue was it never had a real-time update. So it was practically useless. Second issue I had was it always disconnected from the grill, so I always had to set it up again from scratch. I stopped using it for a couple months. After signing in I noticed it updated and real time adjusting wasn’t an issue, app worked great. All of a sudden, I’m using the app, and I was signed out unexpectedly. I try to sign in and received a incorrect password kickback. However, as I’m typing this, I’m receiving updates from the grill about the set temps. I sent a reset password request and it kicked backed with no account with that email. Frustrated I gotta do this while setup again.

Customer Support
With the new update I had to reconnect to my grill. Apparently sometimes they grow distant as they mature and age and become rebellious. In my disarray and hunger pains, Danny from customer service helped walk me through the process and got me reconnected to it before making another awkwardly quiet meal at the dinner table. I also couldn’t even fathom the thought of having to physically watch my food cook or hope that I would be responsible enough that it was cooking altogether. This app allows me to avoid such daunting responsibility. I can now rest easy while I lazily watch my food cook from my app which allows me to listen to Uncle Fred’s fish story for the third time this month. Thank you Danny from Customer Support, not all hero’s wear capes, some wear khakis.

Christmas Gift
I got the Pro Series 850 for XMas this year (2022). Assembly was easy just horrible directions and short 1 washer.
Follow on; I downloaded the Smoke IT app from the Apple Store. I kept try to create an account but nothing happened. I called the help number provided and Danny was very knowledgeable and courteous. He explained there was an update and depending on the phone it had to be done one way or another. I have an iPhone so he said you have to create using the Apple link. I selected it and it brought me to my sign in and instantly done. Danny didn’t stop there though he said let me help you get it connected to the grill. The app was very user friendly but it’s nice to have someone whose walked through it a time or two to assist. It really sped up the process on a unit I had never worked with. With Danny’s help I was all set in literally less than 5 minutes. This old Marine is looking forward now to some tasty BBQ soon. Thanks Danny!!!

The app is no frills but works. Sometimes.
The Smoke It app is convenient for monitoring and controlling your smoker from inside the house. Push notifications tell you when the grill has reached desired temp and you can remotely raise and lower temp but WiFi or Bluetooth. The negative is that to use the app you have to connect to a Pit Boss website first, before you can connect to your grill. As I discovered on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in subzero temps, the Pit Boss website goes down. Thankfully I have a a reliable ThermoPro thermometer to monitor temp. There is no reason for this app to go to an outside website before you can connect to your own smoker. Dumb! If the idea of an app is important to you, you may want to consider a Traeger.

Updated and can’t login anymore
Was working great and had no issues getting setup. Installed the most recent update and now can no longer login. So can’t connect to the smoker anymore. Big disappointment
Worthless
I’ve had nothing but issues with this app since I bought my Pit Boss (btw love the smoker). It displays the wrong temperature, doesn’t change the temperature half the time I tell it to, gives me random notifications when I don’t even have the smoker on and now today I’m smoking a turkey for Christmas dinner and it won’t login!? Says my email/account doesn’t exist!? So I tried to create a new account and it won’t even do that just stays on the signup screen when I click to creat the account. So I last tried to reset my password and it again says the email doesn’t exist.
I can deal with issues in unimportant times, but when it’s Christmas dinner for 20+ people and I now half to walk outside every 15 minutes to check the smoker in 15 degree temperatures it makes my day so awesome. Fix your d@mn app!

Works well, could use improvements
This app works well, but it could be improved with a few features. It would be nice to be able to set an alarm for when a meat probe reaches a set temperature. The only option now turns the grill down to low when the set temperature is reached. Another feature would be an alert when the grill has a problem. For example if it runs out of pellets or shuts down for some reason you never get a notification on the app, although it has an error message displayed on the grill control. Also, it would be cool to have the ability to start up the grill from the app, for when you need to preheat it before you get home.
Another thing would be that it would show the time that the temp was last updated. When you go to the app it can take 10 or 20 seconds to update the temperatures. So sometimes your not sure if the temperature shown is current.

Terrible
The functionality of this app is terrible. That's sad because Pit Boss makes such a good quality smoker, but it seems they tried to save money in creating the app and unfortunately cut corners to make it cheap rather than uphold their reputation for quality.
The absolute ONLY reason I'm giving it a 2 is because I love the Pit Boss brand. Otherwise it would be a 1 all day for me.

Getting it to connect to your smoker is confusing. It took me over an hour to get it done the first time when I was excited about it. I've had my smoker for 2 years now, and I've since changed internet providers. I won't invest the time to connect the new WiFi to the smoker.
Bottom line is, yes you have the bragging rights to say you have a WiFi smoker that you can change the temps from your phone, but don't brag about much else because you'll be disappointed and embarrassed.
Pit Boss, it's time to invest the resources into a developer, or at least a better one than you have.

No loggy in to apply app
If ever there’s a time where you don’t want to be able to log into an app to control an item that cooks stuff, it’s Christmas.

App greatly improved over last few months
When I first started using the app back in April, it had lots of issues, but in the last month or so it has been great. Probe set temp and live temps update quickly, controlling the grill settings is reliable and simple, temperature control and cooling is predictable and consistent.
Before, the app would sometimes say the grill was on when it wasn’t, say the grill was ‘set’ to 500 and had just ‘reached temperature’ during the middle of a cook, say the grill was off in the middle of a cook (when it was still on and set properly) and a myriad of other issues. Reporting back the wrong information is way more scary than no information at 5am mid way through a 12 hour cook. Crossing my fingers that those days are gone for good!

Unhappy to say the least
I have just bought the news vertical pit boss and have set it up and started smoking. The smoker is great. The app… not so much. I am unable to use the app to control the smoker. I have deleted and tried numerous times to connect the app to my smoker and it either says that it’s connecting to Bluetooth and never does, or it says the grill is off when it’s on and I’m standing right next to it. Beyond frustrated. The fact that I bought this smoker so I could use an app with it and that it doesn’t work really makes me wonder if the app is something pit boss really wants to utilize and put effort into or if it is just put out there so they can say they have an app but don’t really care about it. Very disappointed in the app.

Fix it
I think it’s funny that being able to control your grill from anywhere in the world. Why do I need to control my grill if I’m in another country? The still continues to send erroneous temp notifications even when the grill is off. When using the grill with the app it notifies me when the griill reaches 180 degrees the sets the temp to 5. You don’t really need the app but would be a nice feature if it worked correctly. Maybe the app developer doesn’t care about the issues since they’ve already sold you the grill. I’m close to deleting the app for good. It’s not really a luxury if the app doesn’t work, but did I get ripped off paying for a grill that is sippose to be connected and really is useless? I see this issue dates back to years ago and stiill exist.

Great Customer Service
I got the pleasure of working with Mr. Danny Phillips in setting my shift Pit Boss Pro Series set up. This gentleman got me ready to work magic between my phone and my new smoker. I even got the direct landline for sales so I could talk to these guys about commercial grade equipment because there’s no better flavor and accuracy on a smoker on the market. Some of the bigger names are twice the price and feel cheap. The reviews talk about chipping paint and janky heating elements while I’m putting a workhorse into service and sipping ice cold brewskis. 10/10, I can’t say enough. Take the leap, get the smoker, and make some magic. This is a hobby that pays well.

Wi-Fi issue quickly solved
Just moved to a new residence and was having trouble connecting my Laredo 1000 smoker/grill to Wi-Fi and pair it with my iPhone. I called the contact number on the Smoke It app, which was answered by a gentleman at the service center, “Danny P”. He quickly and efficiently, after listening to my problem, not only solved my problem but also was kind and professional enough to assist me in learning things that I didn’t even inquire about or even knew was possible. The world would be a much better place if every time a person called a service center they were lucky enough to speak with someone as kind and professional as this gentleman. Temp settings don’t work
The new 3degree increments on the app isn’t accepted on the WiFi pellet grill unit unless it’s one of the standard temp settings that was built into the unit
