I've been a photographer for 20 years. After several attempts to transfer my domain name without success, I asked for a refund. They denied my refund & kept charging my credit card. Additionally, they team up with go daddy - who stole my domain name. As well, I was never paid for photo purchases. Stay away- they are crooks.

Deeply bugged
App cannot open any gallery that I have, it constantly spins the loading icon and never refreshes, this must be fixed, it has been a problem for years
Terrible app
This app freezes when you open it. It makes my phone heat up like crazy and drains the battery. It often crashes. Also, when you upload images from your phone and there is an error, they show you the error but there is no recovery path. Would also love to see AI image tagging for easy curation.
Auto upload issue
I've been a customer since 2010, never had an issue in general, all the sudden back in February of this year it stopped auto upload on my iPhone, I've contacted customer support and tried to fix the problem but nothing, something changed back in February which is when the app automatically performed the last auto upload and even if I try to manually auto upload it doesn't work either.

Was great
It was a great app but the update 26/05/26 has now stopped the app from opening. It just crashes out.
Upload broken
When I try to upload photos to an existing gallery, from an iPad, the upload button shows then disappears. After I’ve selected more than one it always flashes 1 on the button then disappears. I can’t upload photos while on vacation! Would also be nice to filter photos by the apple photo albums. When you have raw images and edited all in the same list, in square format, it is very difficult to choose the right ones. Long time user that otherwise loves the service.

Problemas para salvar na fototeca
Uso o SmugMug há muitos anos, tanto para meu fluxo de trabalho quanto para entregar galerias aos meus clientes, e sempre foi um aplicativo excelente.
Infelizmente, há alguns meses a função “Salvar na Fototeca” deixou de funcionar no iOS. Isso tem causado bastante transtorno, porque dificulta o download das fotos e compromete uma das funcionalidades mais importantes do app.
Espero que esse problema seja corrigido o quanto antes, pois continuo acreditando na plataforma e gostaria de voltar a utilizá-la com a mesma confiabilidade de sempre.

Based on my experience, Background syncing is poor, so you can’t treat it as a seamless backup solution for your precious pictures.

I have used SmugMug for many years- prob 7/8 and love it! I use it for personal and for sharing images after events! I love the ease and categorize options I can customize!
How do I unselect a folder?
The app is acting bizarre. I cannot unselect a folder after moving it and I have to close the app every time

The blocks of the spinner flash round and round, round and round, round and round. The blocks of spinner flash round and round, all while I frown. Specifically, the app opens showing my name, then a faint banner indicating that my site is private during trial. (I purchased the Pro subscription.) Below that is the spinner. Yes, I updated the app. Five minutes later, it is still spinning. Goodbye.

Most important function doesn’t work
I use smugmug to back up my iPhone photos. I pay a premium for this feature. It doesn’t work. It always gets stuck leaving hundreds of photos not backed up. It’s terrible. Problem is I’m stuck after using it for years and it would be a pain to migrate everything.
Update 6/16/26: of course I already emailed SmugMug about this. Two days later they responded, “There is a bug within the app right now that our team is working on. When a fix is sent into the app store you will receive a notification from us to let you know to update.” Today, 4 days later, there is still no fix or notification. It must be a huge bug or a low priority for them. Wouldn’t recommend this app to iPhone users. It also doesn’t save Live Photos as live—converts them to stills. OneDrive may be better.

The app constantly crashes when I am trying to upload pictures from site. Desktop version is great but don’t bother with the app unless you want to get mad
Uploads from Photos doesn’t work
This new update looks nice but it won’t recognize my photo library. I have allowed access to the entire library and it just spins. I am trying to send a client graduation photo proofs. I think I need to find a new service. This is not good. The most basic function isn’t working.
