Not worth the hassle

This app doesn’t offer anything more than Facebook Marketplace does, yet it charges a premium—10% of the agreed sublet rent. All they provide is a lease agreement, which is something you can easily download from the internet or generate yourself using AI for free. What's more, they offer no financial security or protection for either the subletter or the person subletting their room or apartment. Scams and problems are just as easy to encounter as they are on any free platform—except this one charges you a premium for the privilege. I strongly recommend against using this app.

Last minute cancellation

I would not recommend snag sublets to anyone. I booked an “instant book” reservation, meaning I had to pay $3,000 prior to even having the option to message the host. The booking was confirmed, but the host was able to cancel my reservation 6 hours before the agreement date, after I received a sublease agreement and the address, so now I am attempting to get a refund and figure out what to do for the next month that I had already paid for.

Business model doesn’t make sense

After looking at sublets through the freemium model and chatting a bit with a great subletter, I was suddenly blocked from using the app, learning that I could only continue sending messages to the subletter if I pay $50. I had already agreed on a time for a video call with him, but the app suddenly didn’t let me send anymore messages or engage in a video call unless I paid the $50… I can’t even contact the guy to let him know why I’m unable to respond to him. And no, I don’t want to pay $50 just to look through sublet options and chat with potential sublet options. StreetEasy and Zillow don’t ask that of their users.

Useless app ever

I regret downloading this app. There are no posts, and I got no replies!!!

Full of scammers

Just a total waste of $50, probably gonna be my biggest purchase regret of the entire year. The one legit-seeming person I messaged didn’t even respond to my inquiry, and the rest were clearly looking to farm money from fake application fees, trying to get me to send them money outside the app. Do not pay for Snag.

Scam

Got scammed on this app. The “ renters” ask for application fee saying it’s refundable, then ask for more $ as a deposit

Horrible

Another update after their lame “response” herewith:
No idea who they are thinking they helped.
NO ONE helped me or even came close to resolving my issue - after three very late responses on their part.
Who and how are they saying they helped??
Nothing was done.

I had to fully delete my listing AND the app before I could do anything. All of this on MY own.
Their “support” is worthless as well as their app.
It seems that most of the listings are fake.

Plus, their AI completely overwrote my description with a terribly worded, cheap AI text that had zero to do with what I needed to convey to apt seekers.
It was worded worse than a 3rd grader and inaccurate to boot.
Typical AI slop.

My previous entry:
I can’t edit even after multiple attempts to contact support and founders. It would seem this is a side hustle and we’re all testers.

As well, their fee take is way too much.

Not at all a good replacement for the other biggies.

Upd: on the other more reputable apps, I’ve never had such questionable people try to work a deal so heavily not in my favor.

A lot of cheap folks and ‘trying it’ is going on in this shoddy app.
If you cannot afford NYC, you should not be here.
Certainly, you should not ask for steep discounts at MY detriment.

Also, why are most of the women’s’ profile pix the kind you’d see on Snap, bumble or escort sites? It’s unsettling.

Useless app

No matter how many times that I select “allows dogs” the app returns apartments that were no pets allowed. Impossible to log in-
Sends you a code from your phone but there is a glitch so there is no button to “continue” - eventually gave up trying to use it.

Filters not great

They have filters for a room then 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, etc. I’m looking for an entire apartment, but when I select 1 bedroom, it just gives me a private room in a 4 bd place. Then it shows me places in LA when I searched in NYC. I’m sure it’s good for roommates, but not great right now for subletting an entire place.

Legitimacy issues

I think this app is not legit. Nobody is answering. Looks like the postings are fake.

Not worth buying

Service not worth it got scam by person renting place and I didn’t get my money back from snag beware

Can’t search

Anytime I try to search for a sublet, I get an error message popping down from the top. I’ve tried to find one in the NYC/Jersey city area and it just does not work. Can’t search anything.

Once I get past the paywall it won’t let me search

The app made me pay 50 bucks before I can message anyone and once I paid it it won’t let me use the search function to look at sublets….

App for everyone who's looking for a place in new York city!

Incredible app that puts together all sublet available in the city and posted by New Yorkers

Scammer

Absolutely scammer! Avoid using

Doesn’t work

Trying to verify my account and it keeps glitching

Amazing app- highly recommend

AMAZING APP, it changed my life. Everyone should download it on there phone!

100% Recommend!!

Snag is a very easy and straightforward app to use that also provides a layer of trust when it comes to subletting. It’s nice to have a contract option when renting a room to a stranger. It made both me and the person subletting from me in NYC feel more comfortable! 100% recommend this app!

Bugs bugs bugs

Technical issues verifying ID - very bad app

good but needs improvements

could just be i haven’t figured it out yet but i would love to find someone looking to sublet permanently/take over their lease rather than months at a time only. also, couldn’t find anywhere to specify pet friendly. otherwise looks to be promising!
