I think the Snapper app is absolutely fantastic. It is easy to use. It is convenient. It is a shame that they are taking it out of circulation.
Simple to use, no nonsense
Simple to use, does exactly what’s needed with no nonsense. The fact you can top up any card with a simple tap, rather than messing around with accounts, is perfect… makes it easy to manage my own Snapper and my daughter’s.

Too many when it’s clear ide just forgotten to snap off.
Surcharges still remain in 2026
It’s the year of 2026 and we still have 1.5% surcharges on these top ups, no matter what amount that we put in. If you pay at a kiosk there’s no 1.5% addition but the App requires that amount. That’s a lot collectively over the Wellington region that should be held by the business rather than the individuals.

Not really. Being charged 1.5% for every transaction is a pisstake.

Poor payment option
No option to top up on mobile without paying a surcharge
Issue fixed and now I can scan my card again.
Unreliable, occasionally has updates which disable the key function of the app. Can’t wait for it to be superseded in a couple of years.

The fact this app can only be installed on newer phones is ridiculous. Plus there’s no way to check more than 20 trips? Get with the times, upgrade the tech!
Faulty App
It would be good if the card scanner opens.
If I could give minus votes, I would
Monopolise public transport and charge the user a surcharge.
Had an update and now scanner does not function.
Impossible to use right at this moment, the scanner won’t stay on long enough to actually scan my card.
