Thanks so much for the 5 stars 🙇♂️, glad Sola's helping you optimize how you get vitamin D from the sun. Sun-derived vitamin D lasts longer and also is self-limiting against toxicity in a way supplements aren't. But that has to be balanced against skin damage from UV radiation. That's really the core of what Sola's trying to do: help you hit the sufficiency window without drifting into overexposure. PS if you don't mind, I'd love it if you emailed me at support@getsola.com with more on the "burn a little sooner than it says" part. I want to understand where the MED estimate and your actual response may be diverging
Just what I needed for me and my family
Reminders to apply sunscreen and vitamin D tracker is great.
Maybe not what the app was intended for, as I get so bored sunbathing.
The only thing I would add is a family tracker, so I can input the skin type of family members, so we know what exposure other family members that are maybe not old enough to have a phone.
Will try the app for beach days in the near future! I have high hopes.

Only way I tan outdoors now
I happened upon this app while looking up tanning tricks on Reddit. Since using it I am - no joke - 2 shades darker. I have only used it 3 times.
I decided to splurge and get the paid subscription. It’s worth it to me because I can add in flips with timers. I connect my phone to my speaker for music and the timer goes off through that.
All in all, great app. I am getting tan without becoming sunburned.

Actually useful for daily life
The reminders feel helpful instead of annoying, and everything just works smoothly. You can tell a lot of thought went into the experience. Definitely one of the better health/lifestyle apps I’ve tried recently.

Schreiben Sie mir einfach an support@getsola.com und ich finde eine Lösung 😊 Was Alternativen betrifft: Ich würde wirklich gerne wissen, welche App die MED-basierten Sonnenbrandzeiten, die Vitamin-D-Synthese-Schätzung, die passive Apple Watch-Erkennung und die Apple Health-Integration von Sola (um nur einige zu nennen) bietet… denn ich habe noch keine gefunden 🤔 Sola wurde entwickelt, um wissenschaftlich fundiert zu sein, nicht nur eine UV-Zahl auf dem Bildschirm wie bei so vielen oberflächlichen Alternativen. Dieses Niveau aufrechtzuerhalten erfordert echten Aufwand und echte Investition 😰💶

Sola is a WIN from a dev that cares
What it brings: detailed data and graphical analysis, syncs with Apple Health, has multiple widget options for your screens, Apple Watch compatibility, and even vitamin d tracking from nutrition.
While Sola has a lot of use for anyone who wants to safely tan their skin, I primarily use the app to track my Time in Daylight and help my body regulate circadian rhythm. Being outdoors and sunlight exposure have significant effects on mental health, and I use this app to tell me when it’s a good vs bad time to go outside to improve my mood. What’s really nice is that Sola also sends me safety notifications on UV exposure, a feature I used a lot over a weekend trip to maximize my time outside without getting burned.
As a final note, it’s clear from the attention to detail and how frequently this app is updated that the Developer cares about this app, which is another plus in looking for a sunlight app I can use and count on for the long term.
