What's New in SolarAid

2.1.2

March 26, 2024

Welcome to the latest release of SolarAid. Please note that SolarAid does not produce the forecasts and relies on a third party, we are looking into adding additional forecast providers as some users find the current forecasts inaccurate. - The current time slot will now be bold. - You can now choose to have previous time slots 'struck' out. - Fixed a UI issue which caused overflow at the bottom when too many timeslots were returned. - Fixed an issue where users with an API key only saw 2 days of forecasts.

Very variable accuracy

I monitored the forecast generation and compared it with the actual generation of my 3 kWp array for about a month. Overall it slightly underestimated my generation but on a daily basis it could be extremely inaccurate with generation often half or twice the forecast. Today has been an extreme example. 9.8 kWh forecast, 2.3 kWh generated. Quoting half hourly forecasts with a precision of 1 Wh (3 decimal places kWh) is ridiculous.

Not bad but slightly inaccurate

Just been trying this and it is not bad but underestimates my system output. I wonder if it is to do with the PGIS database which tends to be pessimistic.
Big annoyance for me is the seriph typeface. Please use sans-seriph, it is MUCH MORE READABLE.

Great app, accurate and very useful

The app handles up to 3 (differently facing) arrays of panels. Values show good agreement with my observations and so I highly recommend this app. Since one typically wants to minimise home generated exports of electricity it does help one to plan tomorrows energy intensive activities (dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer, electric oven/air fryer).

Most accurate app we’ve tried

We have a reasonably large off grid system (17.5kw of panels, 30kwh of batteries) and as such have looked at a number of systems for forecasting our production. This app is very simple, no pretty graphs or graphics (which I admit I’m a sucker for) but does the most critical function well - it usually within .1-.4kwh/h of our actual production.

I see it has forecast.solar integration so I also wonder if you can get longer range forecasting capabilities if you use the api.

All in all I highly recommend this app, it does the one job it needs to do perfectly, and well there could be a few extra features it’s really that key feature that is most important. Thanks for the great app.

Just what I have been looking for

Added a 3.5 kw west array to my old 2.5 kw south array plus a 10kw libbi, zappi and eddi. This is exactly what I was looking for. You should be talking to Myenergi to integrate this with their app. Great work!
