Liked Spark before change
I really liked Spark until they changed the incoming emails so I have to select whether to accept or not. I think we should be given a choice if we want this feature or not. I’ve gone back to using gmail
Pushing AI is really annoying
I originally switched to Spark because Gmail was forcibly integrating Gemini into everything and it was obnoxious. Spark was a welcome alternative - I felt like I could just have an email client that wasn’t constantly trying to sell me things. Well, now they’re also pushing their own AI offerings through the mobile app - desktop is still usable and I like it, but the mobile app is absolutely ridden with sales pitches. Not to mention, it now glitches regularly - I was just drafting an email and out of nowhere, it returned an error message that the draft was deleted. This happens regularly. I was willing to look past the periodic issues because not having AI shoved down my throat was worth it to me, but now, there’s no point for me to be using it.
I wish these companies and designers would configure their offerings in a way that allowed you to truly opt out of AI. If someone wants to use it, great, I love that for them. But if these companies were to do that, they may discover that no one actually wants any of this garbage. It’s bloatware. It’s a waste of resources. It does not live up to its inflated expectations. And that would be a tough pill to swallow.
Anyway, deleting it, bye!

Great… Not so Great
I’ve been using Spark to manage my many email accounts for a while now and I do love the way it organizes everything. The one thing that I find that is very very frustrating with the app is that when you go to compose an email. I often use voice to text when composing my email as I’m doing now for this review. The problem with the app that I am having even after turning off the AI features it always rewrite my message. It either leaves things out or it composes the email completely different than the way I am speaking it and I wish I can turn that off. I know it’s not an iPhone thing because I don’t have any problems when using messages or using the native Mail or gmail app on the iPhone or notes or any other place where I can do voice to text. If there is a way to fix this please let me know or fix it in an update this has been happening for a while now.

Massive decline in quality
I’ve been using this app for about 10 years and throughout those 10 years I’ve sworn by it and loved it. Over the last year or so the quality of this app has diminished significantly. Constant bugs, UI issues, unnecessary AI features shoved in my face. It’s sad to see an app that used to be so good now so broken. The last straw was tonight facing Gmail sync issues and unable to login to the app at all on my Mac. Time to switch back to the native iOS Mail app.

Used to easily be my favourite email app
I used to overlook how they would push for Spark Pro & Spark A.I / no option to decline and hide - as I loved the intuitive layout and aesthetic U.I. But lately it’s been an ongoing battle dealing with emails not loading, server not updating, sub-folders showing no emails, etc. Then having to switch to Spark Desktop on Mac machines. As a user for nearly a decade… I really didn’t want to start looking at alternatives, but I think the day has come.
