Not helpful

It’s a nice idea, so I downloaded the app to help not get any further accidental speeding demerits. Half the time it can’t find any data on the speed limit and interrupts my focus to announce that. I’m deleting it because it’s annoying and not helpful, so I never use it.

School Zone

The app would be more useful if it had more settings, such as only notifying me when I am in a school zone during the active times.

Some signs, especially those without flashing lights, are sometimes hard to see.

Response from developer

Hi Johnny, This is exactly what Speed Adviser does. It will notify you when you're in an active school zone (eg only during school terms / times the school zone is active). For more information about Speed Adviser, visit our website: https://www.transport.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/topics-tips/speeding/speed-adviser .

Inaccurate

If I relied on the App to not get a speeding fine I would have received numerous penalty notices from NSW Revenue by now. The speed limits indicated on the app are wildly inaccurate. I'm not talking about new roads but roads that have been gazetted for many years. One example: the app said I was in a 100kph zone when, in fact, it was a residential area with a 60kph posted speed limit. Please do not trust this app.

Response from developer

We are always working to improve the accuracy of the app. Please email us at speedlinksupport@transport.nsw.gov.au with the errors you’ve encountered. Please tell us the road name, suburb and the sign posted speed zone. We will investigate the error and make updates in upcoming releases.

Would be good if not for

Only discovered this recently after noticing sneaky third party mobile speed traps on ambiguously signed sections of road (really disgusting revenue promotion strategy, NSW Police/Government).
App would be used constantly if not for the alerts volume not working: so the alerts are super loud when listening to anything else. It shocks my little daughter with “why is that man shouting at us?” I’ve tried it on two different iPhones.
