Garbage

The app is completely worthless. Neither the tracking feature nor any other feature works. App crashes for no reason at all. The collar can only store one map and even that one map will quit working if you leave that map location and try to use the collar elsewhere. Waste of money.

Doesn’t Function

Collar shuts off unexpectedly so I never really know if my dog will be able to run off, if he does it’s 50/50 on whether the app will be down. My dog has gotten off my property only slightly less than with nothing at all using this product. Embarrassed that I spent 1,500 bucks on this.

App itself

Collar works great when it actually works but the app itself does not work half the time, it won’t open, very frustrating since this is only was to use training and features. I’ve had for 6 months now. First the cost of the collar I would think they would be on it to have it all running smoothly.

Waste of Money & Terrible Customer Service

If you have bought a SpotOn collar I highly recommend that you send it straight back. The whole experience was nothing but a nightmare. It worked for several weeks and completely stopped working. Customer Service was no help and I ended up returning it. They refused to issue a refund because I cut the extra length of the collar strap off because it was cumbersome and made the device hang sideways.

The collar and the app do not communicate properly. I stopoed receiving notifications, wasn’t able to add a map, wasn’t able to enable or disable existing maps, deleting a map from the app does not delete it from the collar, changing the map name on the app doesn’t change it on the collar, receive error messages when trying to update the software, collar randomly turns itself off.

Poor app

This is a terrible app. It worked for maybe a week, then we had to reset. Never REALLY led me to my dogs location. It did work for containment with notifications and shocking if our dog left containment. However if the dog was running really fast it wouldn’t even do either. The collar itself stopped charging multiple times it was very finicky. The map reset often times. The technology is not where it should be for this price point of $1500 plus a monthly service fee.

FAQ

What does the SpotOn Virtual Smart Fence app do?

The app works with a GPS-enabled collar to create customizable virtual fences for your dog. It allows you to set up containment areas of any shape or size without buried wires, monitor your dog's location in real-time, and receive alerts if your dog leaves or re-enters the designated area.

How does the virtual fence technology work?

The system uses Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) to define virtual boundaries. You can create these fences through the app, and the collar communicates with the GPS satellites to keep your dog within the set perimeter. This allows for flexible containment at home or on the go.

Is the app free to use?

The app itself is free to download and use. The functionality of the app is dependent on the SpotOn collar, which is a separate hardware purchase. The description does not mention any in-app purchases or subscription fees for the app's core features.

What kind of notifications can I expect from the app?

You will receive important alerts such as notifications when your dog leaves or re-enters the containment area, low battery alerts for the collar, and alerts when a map is activated. These notifications help you stay informed about your dog's safety and the collar's status.

Can I use this system when traveling with my dog?

Yes, the SpotOn Virtual Smart Fence is designed for both home and on-the-go use. You can set up virtual fences at vacation homes, hotels, or any location where you need to contain your dog, making it a versatile solution for pet owners who travel.
