Simple + sleek

Fantastic app! I am autistic and sometimes go nonverbal. This is the only app I’ve found that quickly and easily allows me to communicate and participate in conversations

Pretty good, but missing a few features to make it a daily disability aid

I love the simplicity, but there’s a few customisation options that could be added to make it much better and make it worth properly paying for.
- ability to save phrases without dismissing keyboard
- ability to customise the font display size (on tablets the max font can be unnecessarily disruptive)
- ability to customise the background and font colours
- alternative layouts for the saved phrases including folders for better categorisation
As it stands currently it’s one of the best visual aac tools under $20, even some of the really expensive ones don’t have an option to show the message as large text which makes them useless in quiet situations.
Hope there is further development here!

Big improvement from pen and paper!I use it on my iPhone

Are use Statement on my iPhone to talk to patients who are hard of hearing. It took me a while to figure out how to get rid of the watermark. I discovered that I need to type something before using the voice to text function, to get the watermark to disappear.
I would also like it if I could use it in horizontal mode, instead of just vertical. It is certainly easier than using paper and pencil, and the large size text is exactly what I needed. In the past I would go to Notes,But I still couldn’t get a font that was as large as what statement uses. My text has disappeared before my patient had a chance to read it on occasion. Someone else wrote that this is a glitch in the talk to text. It made me repeat what I said, but it was still way easier than writing!I really appreciate this app!

great app, bad follow thru.

love this app! i keep it on my home screen to communicate with customers who are hard of hearing because i dont know american sign language, and this is exponentially better than using paper or the notes app.

why the low score? to hopefully get some fast community feedback! do you know what is beyond asinine about this app? the clear button is TO god f u c k ing SENSITIVE. it doesnt check to see if thats what u want to do, its where the done button SHOULD be, and when you try to use text to speech, clicking the screen to get out the of active text to speech listening function CLEARS THE GODDAMN SCREEN.

any time i theoretically save by using this app is wasted by the inergonomic design of the keyboard and clear button. hoping this is an easy fix, xoxo.

Wonderful

I work in a nursing home with many hard of hearing patients. During covid times, nursing home staff has to wear a mask as well as a shield, making it even more difficult for the HOH to understand what we are saying. Statement allows me to type quickly what the resident is not understanding

Actually Autistic Approved!

As an autie, I love this app! It help me communicate when I can’t verbally. Thank you so much for making this!

Very useful app

I used this app to communicate at work when I lost my voice for a few days and it works beautifully. The large text to fill the entire screen makes it very easy to show text to people across a table or room. I have since been using it to communicate in too loud places when I can’t process audio, through windows and doors, when I want to pass a message to someone in a group without speaking to everyone, and when I just feel more comfortable going nonverbal for a while. Very simple design and intuitive use.

As someone who is in loud environments many evenings throughout the week, this app has prevent many miscommunications and lost voices. This app is an amazing development for those who cannot communicate verbally for whatever reason. To the creator of this app, I appreciate you and I hope for nothing but success.

Perfect... almost

I use this app to communicate with my grandfather who is hard of hearing. It works great. He was so happy when he could feel like he was part of the conversation again. The only thing that irks me is when I try to use speech-to-text on iOS the text appears but then disappears immediately. It would make the use of this app so much more mainstreamed and practical if the speech-to-text worked on the app.

Fix this and it would be 5 stars!

Simple, but mighty

I have a deaf uncle who also has poor vision, and I don’t have the time to learn ASL. This app makes it very easy to communicate, I particularly appreciate the choice of bold, sans-serif font and the fact that the text resizes. Function takes center position, the menu lets you type with one tap immediately after opening with no elaborate menu or control panel. On top of that, it looks slick and modern, with high contrast, soft gradients and subtle shadows do not get in the way. It’s the perfect deaf aid for friends and family.

Perfect in its simplicity

Beautiful, simple, easy to use.

It works, so pleased

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This app does exactly what I wanted it to do in order to communicate with my hard of hearing mother. I am so happy that I found this app for my iPad. It works perfectly.

When you can't talk...

When you can't talk, download Statement. Really easy interface. Type in a message and it's displayed in big easy-to-read lettering for you to show to someone, if you're deaf or mute, or in an impossibly noisy environment. Simple. Saving messages is great too.

Timely

My wife lost her hearing one day when she was sick. This app helped us communicate that day! Thanks!

Best Large Type App

Simple clean, the best one of these apps on the App Store.

Fantastic for the speech impaired

I have unclear speech due to Cerebral Palsy and have started using my iPad more to help others understand me (I have it mounted on my wheelchair). I've been using note-taking apps for this, but it was difficult for others to see while looking over my shoulder and I didn't want to increase the font size just for that (I don't want large text when I'm actually taking notes).

I tried this app a couple days ago and loved it! I tried a couple others that did something similar, but this was the only one that automatically scrolls the text while you type (with third-party keyboards) so it's never hidden by the on-screen keyboard. Since people often watch what I'm trying to say as I type it out, this is very important to me.

I do have one request: Could you support Split Screen mode on the iPads that support it? This would be helpful like at Bible study so I could have the Bible open on one side and type comments I want to offer on the other side? That would be awesome!

Awesome

Awesome App!

Great easy to use app

Text adjusts size according to character count which is a great feature.

Simple and easy. Great way to communicate nonverbally.

Prettay saweet

I downloaded this app because my friends made it. And then I actually used it to make fun of my friend to another friend in front of both of them. It was glorious.

I could also see deaf Lyft and Uber drivers using this to communicate via the stored statements. Pretty great.

Simple! Elegant! Big-free!

Does exactly what it supposed to
