Local news important
My only objection is often the same article is run two days in a row. Seems redundant. Is there not enough new news in Salem to get fresh information every day? I do appreciate getting update on new building and changes in the Salem area 😊
Statesman App
Very buggy app. Constantly having to resize. Not at all stable. The content is good, although sparse.
Love
I love the Statesman Journal e-newspaper!
Statesman Journal app.
I find this app a very helpful and informative app. Keeps me up to date and informed wherever I may be.
Salem is my home
I love having a local paper. I like that the SJ supports having reporters, photographers, editors and other staff persons from our community.
Too much Ducks!
Seriously, if you are a Ducks fan, congrats. But if you aren’t, be ready. I have dealt and I have dealt, but tonight was all I could take. Eight of the first 10 articles were about Oregon football and basketball! If I wanted that much sports coverage, I would be on a sports app. I have done all I can. Make sure the app knows that I am not a fan, but it keeps going. I don’t know what else to do.
Yes, at least having 10% be about the Beavers would help, but again I am not on here for sports.
Also, PLEASE quit having week old stories on the daily feed. Why am I paying to see the same stuff day after day

Better than paper
To me it’s a good way to read the news, besides you get photos & updates.
Better than print
The SJ’s on-line edition is never late, never missing and never gets soaked by the sprinkler. Easy to read - a great way to start the day.
iPad App needs work/further Alpha and Beta Testing?

Unable to open app. White screen, or alert and blah, blah about downloading the new app. App is already current. Waste of time.

Enjoy Digital Version
Now that I’ve got the hang of how to read the digital version, I enjoy reading it each morning. Would like more local Salem news.
Horrible app, bring back the Print Edition!
Hate the new app, coming from the forced retirement of the legacy Print Edition. Pinch to zoom in/out is clunky, pages are blurry and shift after you position them, lots of wasted real estate around the edges compromises viewable areas. Scrolling to next page using a swipe gesture only works half the time.
After updating this morning, hoping the “bug fixes” would fix this, it rendered the app inoperable. Upon opening it just sits there trying to load. In can’t even open in airplane mode, did they take away “offline viewing” too?
Only option right now is to view editions using a browser. Whoever designed this app clearly doesn’t use it or have any appreciation for the good things the former app did really well, like actually work.
Please fix ASAP, this app is a joke!

Salem Statesman - Eugene Register-Guard
The two struggling Gannett publications should be combined into one publication. It is my understanding the Salem office now oversees the couple Eugene reporter’s. Salem has a slightly more reporters than Eugene.
I’ve subscribed to both for the last year. Having both, I knew most of the news in the Willamette valley. Many news stories were in both publications and just a few that were local to the each publication.
I’d recommend combining both publications into one, The Willamette Valley News. I think, if they combined two together, they wouldn’t loose subscribers and they would have a paper that would potentially draw Oregonian subscribers.
I’ve dropped the Salem Statesman because it seems redundant to subscribe to two papers that have the a lot of same news articles. I do miss some of the Statesman’s articles.

LLocal news
I hate what’s going on in my country and I found out that subscribing to a local newspaper is a way to resist the current Millionaires Government. I subscribed in the past and now again

App loses subscription regularly
App loses subscription details regularly and needs to be rebuilt. It is a pain.
Poor access
This app does not serve the SJ well.
While the reporting of the local, state, national, international news is well done by wire services and local reporters, the technics and format of this app betrays the reporting excellence.
App issues: unreliable download; pop-up ads don ‘t close; frequently blurred text/images for articles.
SJ warrants better presentation/download format.
