About

Every passage here comes with the place it comes from: Meditations, IV, 3 — book and section, not just a famous name. That is the point of the app. Quote collections are full of lines their supposed author never wrote. Here the reference is part of the composition on every surface: full screen, every widget size, the daily notification, the image you share. If the reference will not fit, the passage changes — the reference never drops. FREE, AND STAYING FREE • One passage a day, with its canonical reference, chosen on your iPhone. • Right now — six states, from anger and anxiety to fear, grief and procrastination, each answered with a passage drawn from a curated selection of the whole library. It never asks you to subscribe. • Widgets in every iPhone family: small, medium and large on the Home Screen, rectangular, inline and circular on the Lock Screen, and a composition for StandBy. Legible in tinted and monochrome rendering. Touch one and it opens that exact passage. • Your year: the date opens a grid of the days you have read, with a card you can share. • Full-text search through the texts you can read. • Unlimited favourites. No quota, no counter. • A daily notification, at the hour you choose. • Share a passage as a square card or a 9:16 story. • Two visual themes, Paper and Ink, following your system appearance. • Works with no network: the corpus is inside the app, complete on first launch. THE TEXTS 376 passages from three authors, in public-domain translations, modernized for readability and credited edition by edition. The French is not translated from the English: each language has its own editions. • Marcus Aurelius — the Meditations, after George Long (1862). 166 passages, free. • Seneca — selected Letters to Lucilius after Richard M. Gummere (1917–1925), and the moral dialogues — On Anger, On Providence, On the Happy Life, On Firmness of the Wise Man, On Clemency, To Marcia — after Aubrey Stewart (1889). • Epictetus — the Enchiridion after Elizabeth Carter (1758), the Discourses after George Long (1877). • German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian are translated from these English editions, and every credit line says so. No modern copyrighted translation is ever used, and no line is published without its reference. STOIC+ The subscription opens the rest of the library: • Every Seneca and Epictetus passage in the library. • Passage of the week: one more word hidden each day, the reference never hidden. • Search by life theme — twelve of them, from anger and anxiety to grief, time and memento mori. Three are open to everyone. • Six more visual themes. Stoic+ is offered on a monthly and a yearly plan; the exact price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm, and the yearly plan opens with a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, in the iOS Settings app under your name → Subscriptions. PRIVACY No account. No sign-up. No analytics, no advertising, no profiling. Your favourites, your language and your theme stay on your iPhone, and the daily passage is computed on the device. Six languages — English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian — switched inside the app. Terms of use: https://daily-stoicism.captaindev.app/en/terms/ Privacy policy: https://daily-stoicism.captaindev.app/en/privacy/

What's New in Stoic Quote & Discipline

1.2

September 12, 2026

SIX LANGUAGES The app now speaks German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, next to English and French. Pick the language in Settings: the passage of the day, the widgets, the notification, the share cards and the search all follow it. THE TEXTS IN FOUR MORE LANGUAGES All 376 passages — Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Epictetus — now read in German, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian. They are translated from the English public-domain editions the app already credits (George Long, Richard M. Gummere, Aubrey Stewart, Elizabeth Carter), and each credit line says so. Every passage keeps its book and section. EDITION CREDITS Settings now lists every edition from the library itself, in the language you read.
