About

Feel everything, but let nothing rule you. Estoica is a Stoic practice you train, five minutes a day. Each morning brings one real exercise from the Stoics. Each night brings the review Seneca describes. Your life in weeks stays one tap away. CHOOSE WHERE TO START Epictetus divided the practice into three disciplines: desire, action and judgment. You pick the one to train first, and it comes up three mornings in seven. THE MORNING EXERCISE Seven practices, each with its source: • Premeditatio malorum: rehearse the hard thing before it arrives (Seneca, Letters 91) • Dichotomy of control: separate what is up to you from what is not (Epictetus, Enchiridion 1) • The view from above: rise until things find their true size (Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 9.30) • The reserve clause: plan firmly, "if nothing prevents me" (Seneca, On Tranquility of Mind 13) • Voluntary discomfort: choose a small, safe hardship (Seneca, Letters 18; Musonius Rufus) • Objective description: see the thing without the adjective (Marcus Aurelius, Meditations 3.11) • Hierocles' circles: bring someone from far away one step closer (Hierocles, in Stobaeus) THE EVENING REVIEW The three questions Seneca learned from his teacher Sextius and records in On Anger (III.36): what bad habit you cured today, what fault you resisted, in what respect you are better. When the morning exercise was a commitment, at night you say whether you kept it. MEMENTO MORI From your birth year, your life drawn in weeks: one row per year, one square per week, this week in gold, on a 90-year ruler. Give each week one intention. Put the grid on your lock screen with the week count ("Week 1,183 of 4,680"), your intention or a line from Marcus Aurelius, and save it to Photos. CARDS YOU MAKE FROM YOUR PRACTICE • Two Columns: what is up to you and what is not, in your own words, with Epictetus at the foot. Hide any item before you share. • The practice ring: your last 30 days as a round sticker. Missed days stay plain, and nothing resets. • The Ledger: your week of mornings and evenings on one card, with a line from your review only if you pick one. THE JOURNAL Every exercise and review, searchable, with your streak and the disciplines you train. REMINDERS THAT CARRY THE TEXT The morning reminder brings the day's passage and names the exercise. The evening one asks one of Seneca's questions. Two weekly reminders are optional: Monday for your new lock screen, Sunday for your Ledger. REAL PASSAGES, WITH THEIR SOURCE Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Musonius Rufus and Hierocles, each with work and reference. English uses public-domain translations (George Long, R. M. Gummere, Aubrey Stewart, T. W. Higginson), labelled; Musonius and Hierocles appear as labelled paraphrases. IN ENGLISH, SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE The app follows your iPhone's language. On any other language, you get English. YOURS, AND ON YOUR PHONE No account needed. What you write, your birth year and your intentions stay on your device. Photos access is add-only: Estoica can save an image you make and cannot see your library. Estoica is a philosophy practice. It is no treatment and does not replace health care. FREE AND PREMIUM Free: the day's exercise, the evening review, the Memento and its lock screen, the share cards, the day's passage, the last seven days of the journal and the first passages of the library. Premium: all seven exercises any time, the full journal and the whole library. Monthly or yearly (auto-renewing subscriptions) or lifetime (one-time purchase). Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings.
