Respect privacy settings

The app is fun, and does encourage play between friends, but please remove the nag for contacts, login and notifications at nearly every sign in. The option is in the settings, I will enable it if I want, but this dark pattern is a stain on an otherwise very fun app. Even the microtransactions are more tolerable than the nags

Repulsive encouragement

My aunts, cousins, sisters and I joined this app today. Shamefully, it brought out the worst in me (competitively speaking). I typically average a good 2,500-4,000 daily, not spectacular but I work with the time I have. We went out to the shops and just walked around the racks for an hour. Made no purchase in the establishment before swiftly exiting with all the money we intended to spend in our pockets. We laughed at our family members who strayed far behind us, then looked ahead. We noticed that 2 of our family in particular had been at an amusement park and would not leave until dawn. We took it upon ourselves to wage war upon those older than us. Teenagers against Legal Adults. Nobody was aware of this was but ourselves. We did not intend to keep it that way. We informed our cousin’s sister via FaceTime call and she relayed the message to the others. By noon, we had 5,000. Not. Enough. We tread further. 6,000. 7,000. My sister gets a bat and uses it on me. I fully considered smacking her with a real one and then it came to me; this app will be the cause of death for someone dear to me. In that moment, I suppressed my rage and urges to resort to physical violence (in public) and instead used the camera tool to gain 500 steps. I was down 250, but what did that matter? I nearly surpassed every single one of my family members aside from my eldest sister and the two family members at the park. We went to my cousins house and decided to make a tasteful journey to a “nearby” park all in the name of Stompers. The scenery was beautiful- we took videos and photos although the bipolar weather of Florida smoked, soaked, and sun dried us simultaneously. Admittedly, had it not been for this app, we wouldn’t have laughed nearly as hard as we did today. It was a nice bonding experience. Unintentionally? Yes. Did it happen? Also yes. Not to get sappy or anything, but I hope this devilish app doesn’t die out and we all stay as competitive as possible. If you’re wondering how many steps I got today, I grossed 12,500. As for the cheats who attended the amusement park, they each got 14,200 and 15,200 respectively. Mark my words, tomorrow I will surpass them. I’ll surpass them all in the good name of myself.

Scummy predatory transaction model

Powerups and ways to knock people back makes for a fun time between friends while getting steps in.

Now the bad. Of my friends who are on this (roughly 10 people), I’m the only one who signed up for the one week trial when I first downloaded it.

As soon as my week trial ran out, I started getting full screen unskippable ads in an attempt to get me to pay for the “upgraded” version.

Literally no one else has ever gotten a single ad since downloading the game. The only reason I am is because I used the trial and they’re trying to convince me to buy it to get rid of a problem that I wouldn’t be having if I hadn’t tried the upgraded version.

Scammy. 1 star.
