Helpful Manager
I opened a new. account at 2198 Storage Mart today. I had a very professional and helpful manager, Shannon, help me set up the account and walk me through what I needed to know to be fully ready to use my new storage unit.
App isn’t user friendly or intuitive
Terrible app. Has a box for user secure ID but it shouldn’t be there as you can’t populate that box. Then you have to go to the upper right icon that looks like a floppy disc (?) which is actually a “save” button. Must cause the storage managers a lot of unnecessary time helping customers set up the app. F rating.

Waste of time
Does not work. Don’t waste your time downloading it. I’ve tried multiple times at our location and everytime we get near the gate it says open & then denies me. You’re better off just typing in the long access code.
What’s the point?
Maybe all the features only work in certain demographics. The ability to pay through the app as well as the touch less pin pad entry don’t work on my phone. Have stated this a few times and the only response is, “I’ll let IT know about it.” I tried multiple times to use the touch less pin pad entry and it looks like it wants to work, then says entry denied. So I have to manually enter my code. Was also told there would be the ability to pay my fee through the app, nope. Nothing. Is this ever going to be updated? If not, this app is just a waste of space.

Step 1. Download app.
Step 2. Enter location.
Step 3. Enter last name.
Step 4. Select unit number. Scroll drop down menu for five minutes with every unit on floors 0, 1 and 10. I’m on 2. Waste 10 minutes
Step 5. UNINSTALL APP!
Step 6. Copy/Paste Access code into a note in iPhone
Step 2. Enter location.

Simple and efficient
I visit StorageMart frequently for my job and using this app has made that process even easier. I set it to automatically open when I’m near the gate so all I have to do is pull up, wait 10 seconds, and the gate opens. I don’t even have to get my phone out of my pocket! So much easier than remembering my gate code.

In the same way that this company loves to raise your monthly storage unit rent without telling you, and charging insurance bc they’re too lazy to look up that you actually have current insurance on file, they also like to make you download an app without telling you that it only works for a handful of locations. The app description doesn’t share that tidbit either. It makes you literally download this so they can make themselves look good with increased download numbers, but doesn’t tell you that it’s only applicable to a teeny smattering of locations. Not cool, developer Karen.

I’m in Canada. I’m an SM customer. They emailed me to recommend that I download this app. It doesn’t recognize the existence of any SM locations in Canada.

Doesn’t work in Canada
I downloaded it because it was mentioned in an email about my storage unit rental, but when I went to use it, it doesn’t find any StorageMart locations in Canada. Useless!
