Beautiful but missing key features

I’ve tried few AI or trainer apps, this one is by far the most detailed, clean and easy to use, however it’s for professionals that know what exercises they’re doing and what they need. I wish this app gave me a program to follow, suggested things and set exercises for me, instead of doing it all myself. There’s also no ability to let it know what equipment I have and what I want to use. Other than that, beautiful app with a ton of metrics.

It’s about time.

I have used so many weight lifting tracking apps over the years that I have honestly lost count. Not to mention spending for their annual plans, which ended up being a waste of time.

This app is not only gorgeous, but efficient. Now, I will say the nutritional data being pulled it was off by over 1000 calories; but the lift tracker is flawless. Not to mention that it perfectly pairs with the Apple Watch, for a seamless lifting experience.

8/10, love it.

Organization of Weeks

No joke this is the best workout app I have ever used! Only thing I would like to see added is the ability to change around what is considered a “week”. I’m currently running a 3 on 1 off PPL. In the app it breaks my split up into multiple weeks when in reality it is just one week. I hope you understand what I’m saying lol. But seriously this app is great and I will most likely use this forever.

Love App, Needs Higher Weight Level

I want to start by saying I love this app. I’ve been using it consistently since I downloaded it. Only thing I’d like you to see is an increase in the weight level. Particularly, for leg press, since 500lbs is not enough for what I do. Still working on maxing out other exercises 🤣🤣. Would also love to see a cardio option for tracking miles ran or cycled.

Update: need help; still love the app, just i noticed that some of my workout history is missing. Please help :)

the only tracker I’ll use

Using the app for the past couple of months has been super rewarding. The integration between my apple watch and the app is so seamless I’ve never seen anything like it. It truly makes going to the gym even more enjoyable and is something I’d recommend anyone to try out themselves. Love how the developer is open to feedback and implements the community’s ideas, overall great experience!

It does everything, but at the Cost of usability.

This app tries to do absolutely everything, and while it does do it, it comes at the cost of an incredibly convoluted and information overload UI. I've used it now on a couple of training sessions and I've wanted to throw my phone across the gym floor.

I think trying to cram in so much training techniques and methods to trainon a UI for a phone, it just doesn't work. I think a simpler app like Strong is still superior because it's much easier to track what you did last time and simply just use your own intuition to try and beat it or match it.

This app clearly appeals to quite advanced to intermediate lifters, and I don't think these types of lifters really do need an app to tell you you need to lift more

And personally, all the other more advanced methods this app offers is just too complicated to be getting set up and using it.

The definition of overcomplicating your training until you make an excuse not to do it.

Potential but not ready

The app is genuinely too buggy to use and rely on. It’s a good project but gutted that I paid for something that isn’t worth charging for at this time. Dev should focus on getting a bigger user base before charging to iterate through bug quicker

Bugs

Downloaded to give it a go, tapped into 'Sleep' and now stuck, I can't dismiss this screen. I'm permanently stuck on the Sleep screen. This app has a lot of bugs.

genuinely so stoked abt the potential here !!

ive been absolutely RUMMAGING through the app store to try and find the most perfect app for tracking my holistic progress and gathering data about my fitness. when i say that this app has SO much potential, i really mean it. there’s so much that’s great here and i think if the gaps could be filled in, it would be a go-to for me. the UI is great (if a little tough to navigate), the detail is awesome, and the integrations are nice. if it could do the following things, i’d have a new go-to tracker.

- add a plate counter
- add a more comprehensive list of supported exercises
- be able to edit workout data from other app records
- have an algorithm that can informatively create new workout recommendations (weight, reps, and sets) and help you automate your progressive overload
- have a way to replace exercises with comparable ones and have recommended weight reps and sets generate upon selection
- include gifs/videos for each exercise

i know some of those requests are bigger and tougher to implement well than others, but if you can get there, it will be SO worth it.

Sleek and Utilitarian

Love the utilitarian look and detailed analysis.

High potential

Great app so far. I just would say add more exercise to the search function instead of customizing like a t bar row wasn’t a choice to pick. Also the sound notification when a rest is up doesn’t work or I maybe don’t know where to go on the app.

App now instantly crashes whenever I open it

I can’t even uninstall and reinstall it because the data is all local to the app so I’ll lose ALL my logs

Response from developer

Apologies for any inconvenience caused. There was an issue found with the reduced motion accessibility setting that was causing the app to crash which might be affecting you. If not, you could drop me an email at hello.strongsplit@gmail.com so that I could help you diagnose the issue.

Bugs Fixed!

Bugs were fixed prompty after last review, writing a new one for 5 stars!

Will continue to support you!

This app can be so good

There’s just a bit much friction in terms of time to first usage of X feature. I imagine the target audience for this app is relatively experienced lifters, but even then I believe it can be overwhelming for many users. I will say though that this app looks great and I can tell a lot of thought was put into the decisions that formed the UX, and in terms of raw features there are few apps out there that come close in quantity and quality.

Too Messy and Unintuitive

Terrible UI/UX. Very confusing and tedious to navigate and adjust weights and reps.

Great potential, a little clunky for now

I am a long time user of Hevy, on the lifetime plan, so it’ll take more to bring me onto this app. I think this app has great potential and features that I wish Hevy would have that make me consider switching (clear set counts per muscle group, more broad health tracking), but I find some functionality to be too clunky or difficult to read, especially selecting values using a slider just feels like too much.

An app with great potential

The interface is clean and easy to use. I really like how easy it is to enter routines and adapt them to my needs. The extra data the app gives regarding sleep, recovery, etc is very helpful. The watch app is a work in progress, it provides the basics but I’m hoping future iterations will allow more data entry on the fly without going to your phone. The developer is very responsive and I appreciate that, so I have full confidence this app is only going to get better!

Excellent UI

This app probably has one of the best, most functional and customizable UI I have ever seen, everything is simple, smooth and intuitive, I absolutely love the app, and will uninstall other workout apps

This one is different

StrongSplit is a thoughtful reimagining of the workout tracking experience, moving beyond simple set-and-rep logging to deliver training insights that genuinely optimize progressive overload & recovery. StrongSplit integrates recovery metrics including HRV & RHR trends alongside sleep and nutrition tracking, providing actionable insights to optimize training. The interface is refreshingly different & intuitive, with excellent Apple ecosystem integration with dynamic Island and Lock Screen support for rest timers, seamless Apple Watch syncing for HR zones and calories. Advanced lifters will appreciate the set intensifiers (drop sets, supersets, negatives, pauses) and the ability to customize exercise parameters extensively. The combination of systematic progression tracking, volume management intelligence, and holistic recovery monitoring makes StrongSplit ideal for intermediate-to-advanced lifters who want data-driven training guidance rather than passive workout logs.
