sudden drop in quality and accuracy
I gave it a video that came with a an official transcript and tried four different ways of summarizing it, and every approach gave back a nonsensical summary with incomplete sentences, duplicated words, imaginary time codes, and other nonsense. I had to resort to another service to get a clean, usable summary. I suspect they've fallen back to using the cheapest, least competent models to save costs now that the AI companies are charging more. I definitely regret paying for an annual subscription, but in my defense, two months ago when I first tested this app it summarized every video perfectly. Something has clearly changed.

I’ve been comparing this app to using a workflow i made:
export transcript > OpenAI API summarize > Apple Notes and then export as .md file to Obsidian.
I think this app is reasonably priced. I don’t use it enough to warrant paying the monthly subscription, but there is a very generous free trier which you can boost with referrals (more apps should do this, great growth strategy).
The thing i appreciate most is the developer is clearly passionate about not locking in user data. The export options are perfect (.md, PDFs).
Things to improve:
1. If there was a way to automatically export finished transcripts to my iCloud files where my obsidian vault is, that would be chef’s kiss.
2. One thing i found very fun to use, but doesn’t seem to be updated often is the “Popular” tab. Would love to see that updated more and perhaps tailored to my interests.
3. I’d happily pay a flat fee to use the app but bring my own API keys. Then i can choose the latest models and control the output better - currently there’s no way of seeing what model the developer is using.
4. No advanced options to customize the prompt sent to the LLM.

Super application, à quand une version langue française.
C’est une super application vraiment intéressante. Surtout quand on veut un résumé dans sa langue d’une vidéo anglaise ou de n’importe quelle langue autre que la sienne.
Du coup deux points à améliorer selon moi.
1/ que les développeurs fassent traduire cette application dans les principales langues (moi français)

So far so great
I’m not want to usually read reviews or write them, but this app is pretty amazing when you think about it. I’ve got a ton of YouTube videos about different things I’m learning about, not entertainment, per se, and rather than have to watch a 25 minute video to get all of the teaching I can use this. App and get it down to two or three minutes and almost more importantly I have notes they can refer back to in the future. Good stuff.

Hi. Some videos are age restricted so you need to be signed in to YouTube to access them, to do this you need to share the video to Summarify from Safari (not the YouTube app). Also, the subscription price is pretty reasonable compared to other mobile or web apps. I highly recommend trying out the free version, which provides a few free summaries. I was sold on the app after the first two summaries.

Really excellent app
After using Summarify for few days on a variety of videos, I must say that I’m very impressed. There are also sorts of different options that help to get best value from any given video.
Amazing app - looking for desktop version.
This is one of the most useful AI app I use every day. I do wish there’s a desktop version of this because there are times I watch YouTube on my Windows laptop.
