Was much better!

Old version was way better.

Wonderful app, genuinely life changing but I’m here to try and give specific feedback

In the app it would be AMAZING if we could move our ‘reflections’ around; change the order - that way we can come back to a thought elaborate
I’m imagining like they are post it notes
Then my DREAM would be that you add an option to download our reflections. As in just notes we are writing for ourselves, as a transcript. It would be wonderful. These are the only ways I can imagine this being any better. Thank you so much for creating this. I don’t know if you are taking feedback at this point. But hoping this makes its way to someone

Best resilience app ever

I love this app. I suffer from chronic physical and mental health conditions, as well as trauma. I recommend at all schools, social services agencies shelters for those who have been abused law enforcement hospitals in all therapists learn about this game. It would be especially helpful for those suffering from physical or mental illnesses, who have been bullied or who have been traumatized in any way, but especially abuse to help build up resilience

Response from developer

Thank you for recommending SuperBetter!

Cannot figure it out

I am by no means stupid but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to play this. For example, I created some Power Ups buy I CANNOT complete them. There should be a “done” or “completed” but there isn’t. I have searched for help in their FAQ, Zendesk etc. There is a How To Play section which is useless-it assumes you already know how to play! I am very rarely this disappointed in an app but I will be asking for a refund for this.

A very easy and fun way to stay on top of self care and wellness

Great App

A great app!

Great game for mental health!

Super Better is a great way for me to add some fun and creativity to my mental health challenges, and I can even make my bad guys and power-ups to tailor the app to my needs! Super Better also has me check in daily with my family and friends so it not only helps keep me healthy but my relationships as well. Overall a great way to work on my mental health!

A LIFESAVER. To the developer, please invest in keeping it functional

SuperBetter catapulted me out of a deep depression. I tried the app a year ago but it didn’t take. This new version managed to push me out of my funk. Thank you so much, Jane McGonigal, for this app and the insights from your own experience with depression that birthed it.
Every day, I look forward to going on quests and battling my demons.
Unfortunately, five days in with this new version, I am missing some of my current notes (I know I couldn’t keep notes from the old version). I find these notes to be vital benchmarks on how I’m doing as well as a virtuous feedback habit loop. I have had to write my notes in an actual notebook in case more of them go missing.
SuperBetter is an important LIFELINE for me. I hope SuperBetter LLC continues to invest in keeping this app functioning smoothly. SUPERBETTER SAVES LIVES.

A lot of bugs, inflexibility, and no free trial

I am one of the OG users of SuperBetter and was really excited when I heard it was getting an update. I do like the new UI, much more aligned with current design trends but that’s about all I like.

First, I don’t like that I couldn’t have some type of free trial to test some of the features. At the very least make a free trial if people want to play solo just to check it out. I feel like this is an easy thing to add.

Second, there are a lot of bugs! Notes wouldn’t save, entire plans would go missing, I couldn’t add Power-Ups, Quests, Bad Guys, etc. Way too buggy to use regularly.

Third, the information and standard power-ups etc. make the app really inflexible. It feels like while you advertise the app to be a flexible way to conquer your goals, you really want the user to stay within the pre-designed goals. It really needs more flexibility and ease of use with that flexibility. I want to be able to decide what my own powers and quests are and use the pre-designed ones as inspiration or fillers. This is especially important if you want to market this to groups that want to create their own items specific to their group.

This app has SO MUCH potential but I feel like there’s more focus on it looking like a cool game versus being a useful app, It needs more work before I would consider using this in the classroom.

Cumbersome And Boring.

This “game” functions poorly. It’s really difficult to figure out how to operate the app and if you’re an individual, playing for “free” there seems to be a paucity of invitations to play. Even if I paid a subscription price, I doubt the boring, clunky operations would improve.

Love it

A friend of mine recommended the SuperBetter app to me a while ago and it has been a daily tool that I use. SuperBetter offers a wide range of quests that cater to different aspects of personal growth. Whether it's practicing mindfulness, trying a new hobby, or working on communication skills, the app provides a variety of options to choose from. The ability to track my progress and see how far I've come is not only motivating but also helps me stay focused on my goals.

Terrible. Stinky.

Money scam & doesn’t work. Telling me my account isn’t verified when you need to verify your account to even get into the app. Over priced, cant play solo. Highly recommend you find a better alternative

DON’T SUBSCRIBE!

This app is awful. I paid $24 and solo quests don’t work at all. Check out the other recent reviews, this app has gone downhill. Don’t waste your money.

What happened?

I used to love this app. Now I can’t even figure out how to use it:(

I loved it

They updated this app and it totally changed. Now I can’t actually access any content or do anything with it. I was using it to get through rough Canadian winters and was on such a role. Now it seems concretely and absolutely unusable.

Glitchy

Can’t even play it because the email verification link keeps bringing me back to the page asking me to check my email for a verification link so 🥴

Out with the old…

The developers decided to change the game with a recent update, and scrap all of your progress from the last one. Kind of unusual in the gaming world. This update should have been an entirely new game, allowing long-standing users to keep playing the original and bringing in new ones with this version, maybe call it Super Duper Better. After re adding other reviews and hearing of the subscription, in addition to losing my game, guess it’s time to move on. At least they can’t erase my copy of the book with an update!!!

Latest update broken

Superbetter is a wonderful app for what it does, however it's latest update is broken. Can no longer login to access my account or create a new one. Password retrieval, username retrieval and support for other apps (Facebook, Google, etc) does not sync correctly.

A great app to use, but at this moment it's too broken to consider.

SuperSadder

I had the old version of this app, and while it was a little clunky, it allowed me to play SuperBetter solo while tracking the quests, power ups, bad guys, etc., that I spent A LOT of time developing for myself and setting up in the app.

This new version doesn’t retain any of the data I set up, and on top of that, I can’t create any custom quests, power ups, etc. without a subscription. I realize the developers need a way to fund continued development of the app, but this was a surprising and unwelcome change.

I would have expected a subscription for host accounts, or maybe to access power packs or social features—not for basic functionality. SuperBetter was created to help people navigate challenges like illness or injury, but charging money for solo play will make this app inaccessible to a lot of disabled users. Looks like I’m going back to logging my gameplay in a notebook.

Edited to add: The fact that a completely new app was pushed as a PATCH UPDATE, based on the releases’ semantic versioning, makes the scope of these changes even more annoying. Yes, a change description is in the release notes. But come on. There were better ways to handle this rollout.
