Define “Up to Date”!!!!
App claims to provide up to date information but on the locations I sampled on the NC coast have not been updated since July of 2025 even though it reports that the sites are sampled bi weekly.
Outdated info
Lake Winnipeg rating is from 2 years ago and beach info is very old (ie no Piping Plovers here for about a decade!)
How are you going to be a swim app w/no recorded data?!?
In So. CA, literally not one beach I clicked on has data, reviews, or anything on water cleanliness… waste of space and time
Super helpful
I always check it before going to a beach!
Beach Finder not water quality monitor
Good at listing beach info, but no explanation of water quality or whatever the colours status refers to. When you click on the beach its just tourist info. Water quality is vague . Why is it red? Why is it yellow? What do those colors mean? Did someone see what they thought was waste and report it as red? More akin to yelp for beaches.

amazing app
super helpful, very informative. always check this app before going to the beach!
Please update for newer phones
The back button is not functional on iPhone 15
Not updated for modern phones
The app is long overdue for an update to fix obstructed header info and unresponsive navigation buttons at the top of the screen.
Saw on the news - believed the lies
Gloria Reuben - president of the company behind this app - went on the news and raves about this app. Downloaded it and every single beach’s status is unavailable and in the gray, yet they claim to check the water quality weekly. So just not reporting the findings? Lol
Difficult to reach back button on iPhone 15
App is fantastic, but could use some usability improvement. The back button is small and difficult to tap. Many apps also allow a swipe from left gesture which doesn’t work here.
Not working on iPhone
The header is hidden behind the phone menu and can’t be accessed
Doesn’t work well in 14 pro
The buttons in the upper corners don’t touch well in this model phone
WRONG INFO ALL THE TIME
August 25 last e. coli count from the city for Kew Beach was 342/100ml and this stupid app says the beach is safe. This is not the first time. DON'T USE THIS APP IT IS NOT SAFE
Underwhelming For My Needs
Thank you for this awesome app! It’s a great mapping tool for seeing beach statuses at a glance but it doesnt meet my full needs. Info Page: Misleading statement on website “Compare real-time and historical water quality information”. The info page could be overhauled and show the last reported ecoli count and a history of the last 3 ecoli counts. Right now its a useless copy pasted space waster for every beach. The copy pasted information could be placed at a central location instead. Map: The map could also use a setting that shows the ecoli counts in order to quickly see the specific counts at various beaches in the area. Tap a location for a summary blurb without jumping into the full screen information page. Navigation: I found the controls confusing. On iOS swiping on the left screen edge usually brings you back to what you were previously doing. In the case for the app it opens the main menu which gets me every time since I like swiping through things quickly. It feels janky tapping a location on the map then having to aim tapping Map on the top left corner to go back. I suggest changing the swipe action to be “back” and putting a menu button elsewhere. Conclusion: Looking at the raw open data at recreationalwater.ca is currently more useful to me than using the app due to detailed ecoli counts and date tested. I hope the ecoli counts can eventually be incorporated into the app.

Great app could be even better
I love the concept of this app, the only feature that I would love to be added is marking off whether or not a swimming spot is open to the public or in a private community. We spent our Sunday driving to several swimming spots only to discover we could not swim there because they were not open to the public, it was a big bummer.

Doesn’t monitor Rhode Island beaches
Living in New England, RI is an important area for beaches. However this app does NOT monitor RI beaches, making it useless for me and anyone living in New England.
Fix it
I’ve used this app before and it was useful. However since re-downloading it, it is forever stuck on the home screen. Pretty useless now...
Inaccurate
Anything posted or submitted by “Swim, Drink, Fish” is unreliable. It is a bunch of volunteer kids. Have found while using it that their results are not consistent with the region. Stick to the government websites people. Unreliable info.
The most useful app I have
Swim Guide is an essential app for anyone who loves to spend time on the water. Not only does it help you find the best beaches around the world but also provides important water quality information for them. Amazing!!
Best app out there for the summer!
This is probably the most under rated app you can find. It has all the beaches in North America and taps into gov testing to get the water quality.
I use this app all the time when travelling with family and friends. It is amazing how many public beaches exist around you and this app does a fantastic job mapping them, so you don’t have to google search the name of the beach. Coordinates or addresses included.
Best app out there! A must for both staying local and traveling abroad!
