Instant deleted again

Thought this could be a nice app wich works with ads or selling my data but as soon as I saw that this is only a 7 day trial I deleted the app. I‘m sure it’s fun and work well but there are type of apps where I do not see a reason for subscribing to even use it.

Edit: there seems to be a way to use it for free. Did not try but I will change it to 5 stars

Response from developer

It's great to hear you're considering the free option! We want to clarify that while Birda does offer an optional subscription with features many users love, it is completely free to use. We hope you’ll give it another try and enjoy all the features available!

so fun!

it is soooo fun and gets you out of the house

Not too good

Photo recognition cannot distinguish between a squirrel and a bird 😒

Great Idea, Broken App

This is a great idea for an app. It’s basically Pokémon Go, but for real life animals. They gameified bird watching and I’m totally here for it. Also, the community is pretty chill and super helpful.

The problem is that the app is buggy af and the AI identification almost never works. For some reason it flips the photos 90 degrees on their side, which makes it almost impossible for the app to identify what it’s looking at. It also does this weird thing where it kills the resolution of your photos, making them blurry and ugly.

Tons of potential, but it doesn’t do the one thing it’s supposed to do. It’s like a pizza delivery app with a cool community and good features, but you can’t order pizza.

Response from developer

It's great to hear you love the concept and community of the app! We truly value your enthusiasm for bird watching. However, we understand the frustration with the app's functionality, especially the issues with photo orientation and resolution. We will look into this to improve your experience. Birda is completely free to use, and we have an optional subscription with features many users enjoy. We hope you'll consider trying it again in the future. If the issues are resolved on your end, we’d appreciate it if you could update your rating!

No Support

Worst app ever. All AI. Canceled, and they still took $60. Zero support, no way to get to a human. Wish I could leave 0 stars, they don’t even deserve 1.

FAQ

What does the Birda app do?

Birda is a comprehensive birdwatching app designed to help users identify birds, log their sightings, and connect with a global community of birders. It offers AI-powered identification from photos and text descriptions, a detailed species guide, and tools for tracking progress and building life lists.

How can I identify birds with Birda?

You can identify birds using Birda in several ways: by uploading a photo for AI identification, by describing the bird in your own words for AI text identification, or by browsing the app's detailed species guide which includes photos, bird calls, and ID tips. You can also ask the Birda community for help with identification.

Is Birda free to use?

The core features of Birda, including bird identification, sighting logging, and community access, are available for free. The app also offers in-app purchases for additional features or content, providing a freemium model for users.

Can I import my old birding data into Birda?

Yes, Birda allows you to easily import your birding history from other popular platforms such as eBird, Merlin Bird ID, BirdTrack, BirdLasser, and iNaturalist. This ensures you can consolidate your sightings and continue tracking your progress seamlessly.

How does Birda contribute to conservation?

Every bird sighting logged in Birda contributes to real-world research and conservation efforts. The app shares this data with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), helping scientists and conservationists understand bird populations and protect biodiversity.
