Why 2 Applications

This developer has two active applications with same name doing same thing.

Locked out

It’s disappointing that as a parent I am locked out of the app, when My childcare provider submitted it 10 minutes before, I am not convinced by the developer, are the images and data truly secure !

Response from developer

We take security very seriously: if you are interested you can ask your childcare provider for details about our security that we provide as part of our contract with them. One part of being secure is making sure that we do not allow access when people get their password or pin wrong, which can lead to being locked out for a period. The childcare provider can unlock your account if you need urgent access. If you think the lock out is mistaken you can also get in touch with us at customer.service@eyfs.info with the email you use to see if there is a fault in the system. Best wishes, Tom

Does not work on iphoneX

The app has not been updated for iphoneX large screens and videos uploaded have no sound.

Fantastic!

I have been using the app now for about 4 years and it’s fantastic. It’s a great way to share information between school and home and is so quick for receiving information about my children. No complaints at all other than maybe have a finger print sign in option.

Frustrating security

This app TOO SECURE it’s absolutely frustrating. It is constantly signing me out, not recognizing my Pin, having to reset my password, needing a super complex password every time that I lost track of remembering. It’s gotten to a point where I would rather just not see my child’s updates then having to reset my password one more time.

If the developers can make it easier to access through touch ID then having to enter a pin that constantly gets signed out or deactivated. As well as the ability to download photos and videos that would be super helpful.

Face ID support

First up registration is far too complex. I’ve seen a lot of registration forms over the years and this one is a mess with its password helper texts

Lastly we’ve had Touch ID support in apps for years and now Face ID so why are you pushing your own less secure PIN number option. Face ID would be much more secure. Please support it. It really isn’t hard to implement, I know I’ve done it

Also please improve your picture viewer. Add swipe to dismiss please. It’s a simple gesture recogniser at its easiest inplementation

Great start, some improvements needed

I have been using the app both as a practitioner in a nursery and as a parent for several years now.
As a practitioner, I love it that I can take videos and record interactions between children. It’s easy for young practitioners to use as well, since all of the development matters are there. What would be useful is to:
See the child’s age in months at all times next to their names, to support assessment.
Be able to add profile picture to the child with the app - it’s a nightmare to upload it to the website and it never gets done.
Get notified as a practitioner or key person if the parents uploaded something for a child or commented.
Easy printing of whole profile for those few parents who still don’t have access to internet.

As a parent I really love it. Love adding my own observations to support my children’s practitioners. I would love notifications when anything new is uploaded for them!

Thank you for the great work.

Good app, a few improvements would make it great

Good app, a few improvements would make it great.
It’s great to be able to access the observations quickly using the pin rather than a password.
I really wish the care diary was available on the app as the nursery is now looking to use this feature instead of a hard copy diary, and logging into the full site is not as user friendly.
I also don’t get notifications when a new observation is added, and no option in settings to change my notification settings. So I end up logging in more often than needed to check if anything’s been added.

Photos have gone very strange

Good app except for having to log in with two different passwords for two different kids which is very poor.

Big bug at the moment: I can’t upload photos from my photo album (iPhone 7) as it repeats the first 18 photos but updates the dates, so I have a history of the same photos going back. This is all photos and the favourites menu. Annoying as I need to do a holiday day of photos for my kids homework.

I’m on iPhone 11.2.1

Great app, just needs notifications!

It’s so great to be able to see what your children have done and learnt whilst at nursery/school. Very reassuring to see that they are being looked after and developed.

What really annoys me though is the lack of push notifications. Pretty much every app I have notifies me, this app is such an obvious product that requires this feature.
Currently my wife and I are just both logging in randomly everyday just to check if there’s been an update.

App does what it has to, but no more.

In terms of functionality, there’s little difference between the Tapestry app the the web interface, it does everything the website does. You might think the mobile app gives you the flexibility to check updates for your child whilst on the move, but this is not the case. Despite having a PIN number securing the app, you still have to enter your password every time you start it up. By the time you’ve looked up your password in your chosen password management solution, you may as well just log into the website on your PC. This also invalidates the PIN security - what’s the point of it when you have to enter your password every time? This could have been so much better to use, and also more convenient.

Great but log in to two settings frustrating

I love this app i have used in an early years setting as well as at home for my own children, being able to see what they’re doing at school/pre-school each day is fantastic and being able to share their experiences at home helps the school staff build on their interests. I would however like to be able to switch more easily between different settings on the app, its frustrating having to log out of one to log into the other rather than having both available being able to click on the setting and entering the pin I have to log in with the password each time (which i can never remember both!) i can set remember password but only on one account so I’m constantly resetting my passwords to get into the app or viewing one setting on the app and one via my browser - it would be better to have a ‘switch setting’ button on the home screen of the app so that I can just put in the PIN number (please?!)

So much potential, notifications please!

As others have noted, please create a feature so that parents receive notifications when there is a new post! Our preschool updates at different times each day depending on when staff are free so you have to look all the time to see if anything new is there, it's so easy to miss things and it's basic to the way most apps work that you can get notifications - this is one of the few apps I would actually like to hear from!

I also agree with the comment that photo saving could be made more user friendly with original date and time stamp retained - that would be really great.

Love having the app but some changes would make it much better

The app is great for allowing our nursery to share pictures etc with us, but there are some things that would make this much better. As there does not appear to be an obvious place in the app to share this feedback:
1) Please let us save all photos and videos to our Photos library either on the phone or computer. At the moment I have to log in online and then manually save each photo. It is time consuming and the images do not retain their original upload date/time (or the date/time the photos was taken).
2) Allow touch ID for security and to make it easier when you have your hands full to see the post
3) App notifications so I don't need to get emails telling me there is a new post
4) Show me on the app who "liked" a post, I shouldn't have to go to your website to see this

Fantastic

I absolutely love Tapestry!! It's an easy and useful way to keep in touch with the kids nursery. Videos, photos and observations make seeing what they get up too really accessible. It's also great being able to post things on there so the nursery see what we get up too outside of nursery hours.

The fact I can communicate with the nursery through tapestry is awesome too, makes life so easy.

Not working/not costumer

Tried to log in after have had logged in before,I couldn't. Then talked with support and they said to talk to school, but it was Saturday so I couldn't. They couldn't do anything for safety reasons to help me, which I partially understand, even though they are the provider. The product is aimed to track the progress of my child, but if for any reason the school is on holidays, and something goes wrong. You would like to access it, forget! There is no access through them what so ever if the school office is closed. And on top of it even though it is something to do with my child, where my child's progress is tracked, where my child have a profile on it, and what I understand doesn't depend just of the will of the school to have it but the parents to join in also! I heard from them "with all respect" I'm not a costumer! Great! 😞

Response from developer

Apple now allow us to reply to reviews, so mainly for the benefit of other readers (Danivoluk, it looks like you had an exchange with our customer support, so I hope they will already have told you this): We operate under some tight legal rules: the school or nursery "control" all data put on Tapestry, we are only permitted to "process" it based on the school's instructions and have to take a great deal of care over the security of the data. The most common cause of a login problem for a relative is forgetting a password, for which we have an email password reset facility. The second most common cause of a login problem for a relative is that the nursery or school have accidentally or deliberately made the account inactive. We legally cannot change their decision on that, even if it does look like a mistake. The third most common cause of a relative's login problem is that the school have entered a different email address for the relative (either a typo, or an old one, or for some other confusion). We legally cannot change what the school has entered without the school's permission (even if it does look like a typo) and, even if we could, we cannot verify that someone is truly a relative of a child so it would open up a security weakness. We know that can cause frustration for relatives when a school or nursery is shut and we are sorry about that. We are open to ideas about how to make the situation better.

Push Notifications

Firstly push notifications need to be a feature for parents to receive a 'ping' every time there is an update or new observation.

Secondly, there needs to be a page which all parents can access on their app which has key general info (key dates, routines, outings, latest news). Again this should ping on update. This can able a relatively simple add on which surprisingly Tapestry do not include.

Tapestry MUST up their game to compete with the many other online journals.

Great app

Love this app used by my nursery. I can see key things my daughter has been doing at nursery and I can share things we do at home.
My only issue is, I can't edit my own review after it's been added so if I make a spelling mistake or forget some info my own report can't be changed.

Multiple accounts readable?

I wish it was possible to look at multiple accounts if you have children in different schools who all use tapestry. Is that possible? Doesn’t seem like it is.

Fantastic!

My son's preschool introduced me to this app... It's a fantastic way to keep in touch with nursery/preschool staff. It allows you to easily upload photos/videos/comments and the staff can do the same so you get a comprehensive record of development. I love receiving reports and photos/videos of my boy having fun and learning and can show evidence of new skills learnt at home. Highly recommended.
