Does what I need - shows take home monthly, fortnightly pay

This does exactly what I wanted it to - shows the take home pay fortnightly or monthly for a particular annual salary that I type in. This is exactly what I need.

Response from developer

You're going to be pleased — this is exactly what the latest update fixes. There's now a Take Home Pay line that updates when you switch between weekly, fortnightly, monthly and yearly, so you'll see your net pay per period automatically, no manual maths. Two things you mentioned aren't in yet: a daily figure, and comparing several annual salaries side by side — both are noted for a future update. Sorry it frustrated you before; if the new take-home line does what you need, we'd be grateful if you'd consider updating your rating.

Retired self funded taxpayer

The app is not suitable for a retired self funded taxpayer. I would rate it better if it permitted salary income to be $0 and included dividend income with refundable imputation tax credits.

Response from developer

Hi Kenneth — thank you for the detailed feedback; it's exactly the kind that helps us make the app genuinely useful for self-funded retirees. Both things you asked for are now live in the latest update: • You can enter $0 salary income and go straight through to your results — no more being blocked. • There are new Franked Dividends and Franking Credits fields, and the estimate now shows a refund of excess imputation credits as a green "Estimated Tax Refund" line — so if you're living on franked dividends, you can finally see your expected refund, alongside SAPTO. If you get a chance to try it, we'd be grateful if you'd consider revisiting your rating — and if any figure doesn't match your return, please tell us, as we read every review. Thanks again for pushing us to get this right.

Developer updated!!

I can’t believe it! I complained that this app didnt tell me how much was actually going to go into my bank account and it used to. The developer fixed it! I can’t believe the developer of a FREE app updated a feature because i complained. It’s brilliant now. Just plug in your salary tick a few boxes and it tells you how much will appear in bank account. And it’s accurate.

Response from developer

You asked for the one number that matters — what lands in your account each cycle — and it's now there. The newest update shows your take-home pay per pay period, so choose Monthly and you'll see exactly that. Thanks for the honest nudge; if it's working for you now, a quick update to your review would mean a lot.

Not as useful

You can’t see your weekly or monthly take home pay after deductions!!!

Response from developer

Hi Sukiyaki1605, thanks for the feedback — good news: this is already in the app! On the results screen, tap the period selector along the top and choose Weekly or Monthly. Every figure, including your Take Home Pay (after tax and deductions), instantly updates to that pay period. You can also switch to Fortnightly, Yearly, or Daily the same way. If that gets you what you were after, we'd really appreciate it if you'd consider updating your review. Either way, thanks for using Tax Calc Aussie! 🙂

Great that it’s up to date but…..

With the new tax year, I wanted to see what my new net monthly pay was going to be…..guess what. It’s the only value it doesn’t tell you.!!

Response from developer

Great news — this is exactly what we just fixed. The latest update adds a Take Home Pay line to your payslip that updates with the Weekly/Fortnightly/Monthly/Yearly tabs, so you can see your net monthly pay directly. Thanks for flagging it — if it does the trick for you, we'd be grateful if you'd consider updating your rating. Either way, we appreciate you.

PC

The best tax calculator app going around!

Response from developer

Thanks so much — reviews like this genuinely make our day. More improvements on the way!

Does not shake home pay

Does not shake home pay

Response from developer

Take-home pay is now front and centre — the latest update shows it for every pay cycle (weekly, fortnightly, monthly, yearly), not just annually. We'd love for you to give the update a try, and if it sorts you out, please consider revisiting your rating. Thanks!

Suggesting

Doesn’t allow you to add deductions the scroll feature on the phone doesn’t work

Response from developer

Thanks for flagging this — the scrolling issue (getting stuck after the keyboard closed, so you couldn't reach the deductions) was fixed back in version 3.3.2. Update to the latest version and you'll be able to scroll down and add your deductions normally. We'd appreciate you giving it another try, and reconsidering your rating if it's sorted.

Disappointed

Not updated for new financial year - no option for tax free threshold.

Response from developer

The app is now updated for the current financial year. A with/without tax-free-threshold option isn't in yet, but it's noted for a future update — thanks for the suggestion.

Not easy to use

No where to find monthly/fortnightly/weekly after tax income

Response from developer

This is fixed in the latest version — you'll now find your monthly, fortnightly and weekly after-tax income right on the results screen; just tap the pay-cycle tab. Sorry it was hard to find before. If the update helps, we'd really appreciate you giving it another look.

Needs a summary

Would be great is there an additional field that summarised what the payment would be.

Response from developer

We hear you — the latest update adds a clear take-home pay figure that summarises what you'll actually be paid, for each pay cycle. Thanks for the suggestion; if it's the summary you were after, we'd be grateful if you'd consider updating your review.

It has one job

This app is great, super simple. A couple of basic improvements would make it super perfect. Please publish the take home pay!!!! You have everything else but the one thing we need to know. Weekly, fortnightly etc. not just annual. I still have to go and manually subtract the gross from all the deductions to see what I’ll get paid each week. And also, if you could remember settings so I don’t have to tick private health insurance every time that would be super helpful.

Response from developer

You'll be happy: we've published the take-home pay! The latest update shows it per pay cycle — weekly, fortnightly, monthly — right alongside the annual figure, so no more manual subtracting. Your idea to remember settings (like private health) is on our list too. Thanks for the thoughtful review — if the take-home addition hits the mark, we'd love for you to consider updating your rating.

Tax Calc Aussie

Useless. Doesn't show weekly nett income

Response from developer

Weekly net income is now shown — the latest update displays your take-home pay for each pay cycle, weekly included. Thanks for the feedback that pushed this along; if it's what you were after, we'd be grateful if you'd consider updating your review.

My go to Tax calculator

Easy to use with a thorough working through of figures.

Response from developer

Really appreciate it! Glad the worked-through figures are useful — thanks for being a long-time user.

Too basic

Can't even calculate salary sacrifice.

Response from developer

Salary sacrifice isn't supported yet — thanks for calling it out. We're logging it as a feature request for an upcoming update.

What is the point of this?

How did it get any good review

Doesn’t show salary with tax deducted

Would be great if it show this and you didn’t have to work it out

Response from developer

You no longer have to work it out yourself — the latest update shows your salary after tax (take-home pay) directly, for whichever pay cycle you choose. Thanks for the suggestion; if it's working for you now, a revisit to your rating would be much appreciated.

Needs work.

The calculated figures are wrong.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback, Psytrix. Our estimates are based on the official ATO rates and thresholds and are updated every financial year. Please take another look in the latest version — the figures are accurate and current.

Calculations incorrect.

I found the app does not include Medicare levy in the calculation even though it says it does. This leads to an incorrect net income figure.

Response from developer

Thanks for raising this. The Medicare levy is included in the tax calculation, and it's now shown as its own line item ("Included Medicare Levy") so you can see exactly what's counted. We'd welcome you giving the latest version a try.

Gave one star as a protest to the constant nudge to rate me, rate me, I need to be rated!! App works well 👍

Response from developer

Fair point — nobody likes being nagged. We're reviewing how often the rating prompt appears to make it far less intrusive. Glad the app itself is working well for you, and thanks for the honest note.
