User Friendly
Most user friendly tax prep app that cuts right to the chase without extra unnecessary questions and I have used several popular apps. By far my favorite!
Nothing but pop ups
I can’t see my return details and every other time I click something to try, I get a pop up to rate the app. Apparently the only thing it does well is collect ratings

So over being forced to pay to do my taxes because it’s not the most basic return possible. And an extra $60 for paying with my return? Terrible terrible terrible company. But the alternatives aren’t really much better.
Easy to Use and Affordable Tax Filing Service

Not really useful
The web interface for TaxAct is still good, tho it was much better 2 years ago. I have been using them to file my taxes for at least 25 years. This web app does not display documents well and is impossible to navigate. Using the web interface in the mobile browser is far more effective.
- E.G. The app should be able to rotate when there is a document that is trying to wrap a second column and only fits like 10 chars.

Phone number
It wouldn’t let me use my phone number then it’s in a code to a number I’ve never had
TaxAct let me down!
I know I shouldn’t have waited until the last minute but, at 11:45PM on 4/15/2026, tried to file my return. TaxAct told me I had to complete the final steps again. And again, and again, until I was FINALLY able to file it at 12:08AM on 4/16/2026. I hope I don’t hear from the IRS about late filing. If I do, TaxAct will be hearing from me!

Tax act not quite the same
In prior years the TaxAct software provided a very detailed interview process. It was harder to locate some items this year such as the energy credit form.
