After over three months of complaints by many on the Internet, there is still no way to disable the daily push notifications for the Pulse Newsletter.
There is configuration to disable and enable notifications for all of the topics you follow, but no way to disable The Pulse Newsletter notifications.

Annoying Game Notification
I get spammed with a notification for their games in the app. It is turned off in the settings. Support was not helpful at all. Moving back over to thescore.

I don’t need my sports content curated. I don’t need 5 “for you” sections fed by an algorithm. I want to explore and read organically.

Too many articles are designed to elicit Fox News or CNN comments instead of sports. They got lazy
New App Release Not Working on IPAD.
Says you need IOS 18. IPAD says you have the latest IOS version loaded. Perhaps the programmers might want to take a look at this!

Garbage Content in my feed every day
Yo - NY Times! I don't give a toss about soccer or for goodness sake, trading cards. My preferences are selected in the app but I get fed content I have no interest in. Stop that shine!
One used to be able to report a problem directly but no it goes through NY Times chat. Good grief. Put your AI to work and let me exclude nonsense I don't want to see. That is the whole point of content delivery this decade. Wake up.

The type is always jumbled together on every story making its very difficult to read. Whoever set it up should be let go.
Degrading fast
Was a differentiated class of sports writing of the highest caliber. Top beat writers joining The Athletic to bring broader and deeper sports coverage. Easy 5 stars!! Since NY Times purchase and likely related to their subscribers and income declines, they’ve been cutting staff and coverage. Too many AI writes, stupid factually mistakes and politically based articles weeding into this sports entertainment outlet. The comments section has become a place of some great sports insights but too often a distracting wasteland of political intolerant vitriol that has nothing to do with details of the article. Just brainwashed liberal BS ruining another fine institution.

Force feeding American sports
I just wanted to read some football news, but the feed is constantly pushing NBA and WNBA sports down my throat. Fix your algorithm, no-one cares about American sports

No place to redeem voucher. Looking for it, I saw more nags to allow notifications than sports stories. Also no clear place to delete account, contrary to Apple policies. What a rubbish app

Paid for subscription didn’t get access
Took an annual payment but subscription is not accessible and it’s almost impossible to connect to customer care - their automated service does not help.
They don’t care about your preferences
I don’t follow NBA on Athletic. And yet I go to the front page and it is inundated with NBA articles. They don’t listen to your preferences when you select them so don’t even bother.
Too much junk
Be aware that, while The Athletic has wonderful sports content, the App has so many video ads now that (a) it uses up lots of data, even if you’re just scrolling past the video ads as quickly as possible, and (b) readers have to get past plenty of junk (including unwanted sports videos) simply in looking for, and sticking with, the articles they want to read.

NYT ruined it?
I think a lot of the reporting is actually really good, I have my favorites (MSD for the Seahawks, James Horncastle for Serie A), but it feels like ever since the NYT acquisition the article titles have turned more into clickbait and the reporting has gotten more political / politically biased. The World Cup reporting was the last straw - just awful it felt like they were trying their hardest to make you not like the World Cup given it was in the U.S. and the current political climate there. 5 stars for my favorite reporters I’ll miss, 0 stars for how political in general it’s become to the point I felt the need to unsubscribe.

HUGE ads on main page, can't collapse comments, constant bugs introduced
1) Massive ads take up nearly full screen on main page
2) App doesn't provide ability to collapse comment threads so you have to scroll forever to see new comments (basic functionality)
3) New bugs are constantly introduced in new versions. The latest is the disappearance of the toolbar at the bottom when opening an article

the app is terrible, all it does it give you news of your teams. It impossible to see just latest sports news.
