Was top notch prior to sell off
The app had nearly flawless execution prior to the Baker family selling to Gannett. Gannett made some changes behind the scenes, and for a time, a virtual comedy of errors ensued. Duplicate pages, sections missing (including the entire Sumday funnies on more than one occasion), late delivery. At one point, we considered going with a different paper’s on line publication, but the price point was not to our liking. In short, it is only the price point that has kept us subscribing. Meanwhile, the errors have diminished, but are still present. Do you know, for example, you double-print the national re-hash of the headlines every day? Today, it’s section C. You’ve been doing this for weeks, if not months! Where is the proofreading these days?
Addendum: I don’t recall how long it’s been since the previous entry, but the quality of the app and the paper have not improved and I’ve dropped a star because of it. Since then, they have eliminated the entire op-ed section and the Sunday weekly Parade magazine. I presume this was a cost thing, but losing the op-ed kind of guts the public voice one looks for in a newspaper. Also, they continue to print an entire section of the paper (I presume from the Gannett national feed) that repeats a bunch of the news they covered in the first sections.
If they drop the funnies, I’ll have no further use for this.

Able to keep up with local events
We travel quarterly to a board meeting. The electronic version allows me the ability to keep up with our local news as well as National. I have figured out how to do 7 Little Words using a screenshot then using the”mark” feature on my phone and sudoku by taking a screenshot the then putting the numbers in an excel spreadsheet I made. I haven’t yet figured out how to do my other favorite without printing. We have read our paper in other countries as well!

Loads quickly
I like this app. The newspaper loads quickly and seems to be identical to the print version.
It’s the Little Things
Generally a good app. BUT when reading an article (iPad) bullets become “h”, hyphenation not handled correctly. Subtitles and text boxes not handled correctly. Resuming after a break, need to wait while the same edition re-loads, losing my place. Full page magnified, scroll slightly too far left, pops way back to the right. Similar on the web.

Arrgghhh!
Reading the paper used to be a calm time in the morning. Not anymore. Using this app has changed it to an hour of frustration and never wanting to open it again. I’ve attempted to get help with how the page loads to no avail. Today I cannot access my account but instead get a message that this page cannot be found. This company owns many many newspapers all over the country. I would expect it to have a stellar app. It does not.
