Hard to read
The app is just the digital files for the print version. Useless on mobile devices unless you have one of the larger iPads.
Bummer. Was hoping to subscribe as the print version is waaaay too overpriced in the US.
I guess Iβll wait and hope they do something properly formatted for mobile devices.

Disappointing
The app only works while your subscription is live. Once it expires you donβt have access to the magazines you paid for.
Can't view any issues once subscription has expired
Don't be deceived by the statement in their description that you can continue to access some or all of the issues you've downloaded once your sub has expired, you can't; even if, as in my case, they hadn't been deleted. Here's evidence from their support:
"Exact Editions subscriptions work on an access model basis, this means that you can access an archive of back issues as well as each new issue while you have an active subscription. However once your subscription expires, you can no longer access issues of the magazine.

Excellent!
Great magazine, well designed app!
Great magazine
Great magazine, 5 stars for that. However, I find that navigation in the iPad app often fails after zooming in to read the text. I have to crash the app to turn the page.
The amazing thing is that I still do this.

Opt out not clear
I'm stuck with this at the moment because I cannot seem to cancel the automatic downloads which means I keep getting charged !
Please look at how the New Yorker does their app!
And follow suit! This magazine is too good to have such a lousy reading experience on the app. Please fix ASAP!
Extraordinary content compromised by a terrible app
The superb information, reviews, stories, and interviews provided by The Wire suffer to the point of being unusable in this clumsy app. Impossibly slow load times and raster text (RASTER TEXT!) fail to keep pace with even sub-par contemporary electronic publications. This product makes a strong case for the continuation of the print medium.

Cutting-edge content, antiquated format
Great content but annoying to use due to snail-paced load times and clumsy navigation. The publisher should look at a really well-done example (New Yorker for one) to learn how to do this properly.
Best of breed
Ignore the low star ratings if you recognize the actual music this mag covers, because it's the best of its kind, for those of us that appreciate the genres they highlight.
Long time subscriber - disappointed by app
I love the content of The Wire. In fact it's the only mag I subscribe too. I was excited at the prospect of having downloadable versions of the entire back catalogue. Unfortunately, the app is so crippled and slow that it makes a delightful reading experience of the print edition into a real pain. Please Wire - have someone write you a proper app!

Great content, poor app
The paper edition is beautiful. The content is worth the price, but this app is wretched.
It feels like reading a series of JPEGs. Text does not reflow if you want the font larger: you simply have to zoom in, like reading a newspaper with a magnifying glass. Links and the table of contents are similarly tacked on. Obvious enhancements like sound clips are not made.
I hope they re- approach this app in the near future.
Stick to paper for now.

Poor
Come on Wire- just putting on a PDF of the current edition is not good enough. No hyperlinks to the articles, no means of playing/streaming any content not even for the Wiretapper tracks and pages are very slow to load. [Updated: there are links to the articles- tap once on the screen and green dots appear, tap on the green dot and that takes you to the article. It is a very clunky set up and took some time to figure out.]

I Used to be a Paper Subscriber
I would like to subscribe to this App, but there is no "example" content by which I may evaluate whether the 40 buck subscription is worth it. I know the paper version is totally worth it. The Wire is the kind of magazine you read cover to cover. Give us a small, tiny example of what were paying for. Thanks.

The legendary magazine
More than a magazine, THE WIRE is an obligated reference for those who know (and don't know) about futuristic music. For me this is more than a simple magazine.
The perfect complement to my subscription.
Looks great on the iPad, has a good back catalogue of issues and has a great design.
