The Best UK Radio News Station Bar None

I habe listened to Times Radio since day one four years ago. I had previously listen to Radio 4 Today etc. Times Radio utilising the global network of journalists plus the largely excellent choice of presenters make this station compelling listening. Stig and Kate from 6:00 am exemplify what good presenting is all about. Serious when required, they very rarely
Interrupt when interviewing. They realise it is not all about them! They also have a chemistry and sense of humour which appeals whilst avoiding that rabbit hole called Radio 5. I also enjoy John Pienaar, Ed Vaizey, Andrew Neil, Hugo. Rifkind, Adam Boulton,Ayesha Hazarilka and many others. If you haven’t sampled Times Radio, I would suggest you give it a go!

More bias please

How about a bit more bias in your ‘reporting’? When some claims they have been stabbed, is it ‘understandable’ that the police handcuff the claimant, as your invited speaker implied…

Fabulous

I used to listen to radio 4 .Just retired (Consultant Physician)
Had two new hips since October .Times radio has kept me sane Kate and Stig are gifted and have great chemistry .I originally started listening to Fi and Jane as they were great on 4 .
Podcasts ,catchup it’s all there at 2am when you wake up in pain so thanks🙏

Frustrating

Very unreliable ~ often have to turn my iPad off and on again for the App to play. Such a pity as it’s a great station with terrific guests.

My radio station of choice

My main listening time is at breakfast time but not solely. The male presenters have always good but now we have Kate McCann & Rosie Wright we have the perfect presenters 7 days a week. The presenters later in the day are also excellent.

Punchy and relevant

The most important quality of the morning show is its willingness to allow interviews to run their course rather than ending them when they reach a critical juncture.

Biased

Unfortunately the team putting together the output for the shows 6-10am slot are very biased!
I stopped listening to the today programmes on Radio 4 because of the left wing bias portrayed only to find that more recently Times Radio is doing the same. Surely you should be honest and say that you are giving a left wing slant to the news or pay more attention to your output if you wish to be a fair unbiased news station.
Very sad as I had such high hopes …..

Great radio, iffy app,

Occasionally shuts off. Need to force close it before running Spotify else Times Radio burns battery in background activity.

I love Times Radio

I genuinely can’t fault this show, I listen on and off for most of the day as I WFH. The breakfast show is perfect- always love listening to Kate and Stig.. Hugo is great mid-morning and I always make a special effort to listen to Dom Joly and Andrew Neill when they do a show.

I would like more Giles Coren, please make this happen!

One of the presenters who I have liked more and more is Ed Vasey. Keep it up, Times Radio.

The adverts are annoying. Please end the constant McDonald’s adverts (I just put the radio on mute when the ads start). I appreciate that they are a necessary evil, though.

Phone overheating

I love Times radio and listen everyday. Giving 3 stars because the recent app update causes my phone to overheat and the battery drains very fast. Otherwise would be 5 stars.

Kate and Stig

The greatest breakfast double act

Crashes constantly then it works then it doesn’t

Today it’s crashing again. Epic fail this radio station

Crashes constantly

App constantly shuts down and in particular can’t cope with any other big app being opened when it’s playing.

Glad the awful, cackling, attention seeking Mir has gone and at first I thought McCann was great. But as time has gone on it’s become obvious she has absolutely zero general knowledge outside her knowledge of politics and it grates. “Didn’t know that”, “never heard of that”, “I didn’t get that”, “don’t know where that is”, “did you know that Kate? ‘nope’” every single day. We are talking widely known facts here - she’s clearly an intellectual lightweight with deep knowledge of one subject in life that she’s managed to leverage. Listening to her next to Stig whose general knowledge is superb is embarrassing.

Rod & emu

I really like all the shows, from politics to Rod Liddle. Very funny and interesting.

Get a life

I’ve given you 5 stars… I listen to you every day, what more do you want…….don’t be so needy- it doesn’t become
you ….

Radio radio

I like Hugo Rifkind & I
don’t care much for many of the talking heads that are bought on to give their views in other shows as I find they skew too much to the right of politics such as the ubiquitous
Peter Cardwell & Tim Montgomery & their ilk

Rod Liddle

The most amusing, insightful and informed show in radio history.

Perfect, but…..

I’ve listened from day 1, when I’m sure someone, might have been Giles Coren, said there wouldn’t be adverts but programmes would be ‘sponsored’, which was fine. I still listen every day, love the programmes but hate the adverts - especially recent Gambling ones - and too-frequent ones like Curry’s. I tried to go back to Radio 4, lasted half an hour!!! So, one star lost, will be regained if fewer adverts, I guess none would be impossible now.
