Cannot avoid clicking ads

The app design is such that when scrolling CBC News on my phone, the scrolling launches the ads automatically even when I try assiduously to never touch them. I presume this is because the links extend beyond the borders of the visible ad image. I am so annoyed at having Expedia, in particular, repeatedly launch whenever I tried to read the news. This is unacceptable for one of the only free reputable news sources available to Canadian taxpayers. This business practice feels underhanded.

Impossible to scroll

Can touch an add while scrolling without getting bumped out of the app, makes reading a story extremely frustrating.

Stop asking if I want your cookies

I am asked to accept cookies virtually every time I open the app.

Annoying Preferences

Fix the darn app! Even when signed in, most every time I open the app the preferences confirmation screen pops up first.

Freezes

This app was my every morning coffee and news go to but since the latest update I’ve noticed my iPad getting fairly warm and starting to freeze. Full page ads, the ways ads are presented are starting to look like the same method used by the CTV news app, causing frequent slowdowns and freezing so bad it takes repeated attempts to get out of the app. Now, I have to read the news at my computer instead, not exactly convenient for me.

Wish I could roll back the update so I could enjoy reading the news with my morning coffee again.
