In the app itself it says that it only works in Japan.

This is a great idea but agree with the other reviews-you scan barcodes and nothing happens.
If you read the instructions online it has you scanning a barcode near a picture of the remote-there’s no barcode on the remote.
Toto developers—PLEASE get this app working. Looks like it would be a great addition to the Toto lineup.

Won’t scan QR app needs help.
Useless App / Won’t Scan QR
As many others have noted, the app will not scan the QR code.
Doesn’t scan any QR codes
It doesn’t work but asks for all possible permissions. Camera without explanation why, fitness activity, quite weird permissions to ask while in restroom
No workie
The QR code will not scan. I tried no less than six times to scan the code, with the same results every time. I would love for this application to work. It just doesn’t.
