Great app for the trails

So many features, like
- down loadable maps,
- follow feature to help stay on the trail,
- extensive trail network data in the USA
- very accurate trail data which has been verified and quality control checked
- very accurate trail rating system to help you do trails within your capability
- easy access to review trails for planning purposes like an overall map of trails in the USA, search and filtering functions
- app is great but they also have a website with the information. So for planning bigger adventures, you might use the website and then on the trail - the information is handy in this app
- great organization with their priorities straight, promoting care for the trails, not going off trail or littering etc..
- trail guides show point by point features like obstacles, bypasses, scenic things etc. As you travel the trail, you can easily see where you are on the app and what features are coming up, this is outstanding.

My Absolute Favorite Trail App.

Trails Offroad has become one of my go-to tools when planning and running trails with the Dirty Adventure Crew. What I appreciate most is how easy it is to use across multiple devices while we are on the trail. I can keep the detailed waypoint information open on my phone while the full trail map is displayed through Apple CarPlay, which makes navigation much easier without losing access to important trail details.

I also appreciate the ability to export map files for use with other navigation devices and apps. Between the detailed trail information, waypoint descriptions, CarPlay integration, and file-export options, Trails Offroad gives me the flexibility I need to plan ahead and stay informed while exploring.

Response from developer

Thank you so much! We love hearing that Trails Offroad has become part of your planning and trail-day workflow. Using waypoint details on your phone while running the map through CarPlay is exactly the kind of flexibility we hoped to provide. We really appreciate you taking the time to share such a thoughtful review, and we’re glad to be part of your adventures with the Dirty Adventure Crew. Your crew sounds like a blast!

Best app available

I’ve used every app available and this is my go too app for all my offroad adventures. I’m not into super hard trails anymore. So it’s nice to filter out the stuff I don’t want to go on and choose from the amazing list that just gets bigger each day. Real trails ran by real people that have been verified. That way there are no surprises if you come in contact with a ranger. Unlike other apps that are public crowd sourced and those trails and tracks could be illegal trails and could cause ya to get a hefty fine

Thank you! This means a lot, especially coming from someone who has tried the other apps. Our goal has always been to provide real, verified trail information so you can plan with confidence, avoid surprises, and choose the kind of adventure that fits you best. We really appreciate the support and are glad Trails Offroad has become your go-to app. Most importantly, we hope to see you out on the trail!

Best Offroad app

This is my favorite offroad app because it has so much detail and it’s trail overviews. It has wave points photos and videos. It really gives you a great idea what to expect when you’re on the trail opposed to just how to get to the trail.

Great app!

I am really loving this app. I like how the waypoints show on the map in my truck. Super simple to use on Apple CarPlay. I really like how it shows the camping spots and points of interest in the app as well. I use the app to regularly plan trips. Highly recommended!!

More Than a Trail App

Trails Offroad has become part of how I adventure. I love discovering new places, and this app gives me the confidence to explore trails I might have otherwise passed by. The trail reports, photos, and detailed information help me spend less time wondering what’s ahead and more time enjoying the journey. It’s one of the few apps I genuinely use every time I hit the trail. Highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Essential off-road tool

One two platforms for napping: CalTopo and Trails Offroad. Both are essential for me but TRO is the first I visit to understand an area and trails. It continues to improve every year as well.

Excellent

I’ve used Trails Offroad for several year and it just keeps getting better. It was used almost exclusively for a two week trip to Moab and it just works. We were out of service for a good portion of our time and the offline feature was flawless. Keep up the great work!

Pretty much useless unless give them access to billing before they let you see the app

Here’s an idea. Let your potential customers see the app for a set amount of days and then disable it if not subscribed. The model of subscribing with a free trial and then canceling before the deadline is beyond frustrating. I will no longer support any company that uses this model. It’s been my experience that canceling before being charged is usually next to impossible.

The best app for finding and following Offroad Trails

This has become the best app for offroad enthusiasts. Trails are extensively documented so you can plan your adventure. You have ability to download areas so you can follow along even when you lose cell reception. Once on the trail, you can follow turn by turn directions, with guidance and helpful information along the way. More and more trails are being added all the time.

Cannot even create account

Loaded app and tried to create an account. Couldn’t proceed because of the 3 different legal actions. Read each one but there is no way to accept them.

Wish I had this 25 years ago

Trails Offroad is the best offroad/overland/trails app out there. They have waypoints, follow me mode, land info, accurate trail info, user reviews by actual wheelers, camping waypoints and info, great info for planning trips, tracking, shared lists, and more. They don’t have good marketing, but they’re definitely the best app out there. Works great on my iphone including my old one which is just used on the trails (without cell connectivity).

Phenomenal but some room for improvement

After moving to CO in 2023, I wanted to check out the surrounding trails and came across some YouTube channels that mentioned this app. After downloading, the web interface is very easy to navigate and I liked the download by state option. I love the waypoints with pictures that most trails have and opted for paid membership. I also like how you can follow along with pictures on the app and the brief explanation for historical landmarks and sights that no other apps offer. It is very easy to map to beginning of trail in standard or reverse direction.

Ford recently emailed me with a one year free trial subscription for the other major off-road app which has made me realize the CarPlay TOR app is lacking. It would be great if the CarPlay interface would also show waypoint to waypoint pictures that it offers online and in the app and 3d mapping with elevation. Really my only critique is the CarPlay interface overall being limited compared to the many features TOR app offers.

It seems the TOR app has much more engagement with both general users and people associate with the app despite the other competitor probably spending exorbitantly more money on advertising (forreal, can’t watch a single YouTube video without it turning into an OnX infomercial). That just attests to how great the app is.

My go to

The best resource possible for trails in Colorado. It literally never lets me down. Two thumbs up.

Great app

This app is amazing and love the offline map and how well it works. Love the track mode and follow so it shows you spots along the trail.

The best there is

You won’t find an app that has more up to date and detailed info than TOR! This app has been my go to for years and while either checking trails prior to going or just daydreaming over maps it the first and only app I use and recommend! The mapping feature is great for planning future trips and the listing of completed trails helps show what you have done. This app had made the ability to go into new areas and locate trail networks a breeze! It cuts out the “fluff” and gives you pertinent information regarding trail difficulties and details that may cause you issues if you attempt it.

Thanks, Claybuster84. We really appreciate you being with us all these years and helping make our community as awesome as it is. We are always working to improve and bring the best trail intelligence we can to the app and web. Hope to see you out on the trail!

Best Offroad App

Been using this app for several years and it keeps getting better and better with more releases. The detail of the trail guides are top notch and they are all created with boots on the ground. If you are heading offroad, this is the app to get.

SO what’s up with not having Subaru ..?

I have a 4x4 subaru, so i’m confused as to why it’s not an option..?

Needs UI refresh badly

It’s a really strong app, with great info, but suffers for a strange UI. Example: you can’t click the reviews at the top of a trail to go to reviews, you have to scroll down manually. Many menus and trail menus also don’t really make sense.

Trails you can trust!

I love that every single trail on Trails Offroad has had tires on the dirt.
I’ve used some of the “bigger” off road apps and was left disappointed or even angry by the lack of information about the trail and/or the trail not even existing! That really sucks after driving an hour to the trailhead only to find out it hasn’t had a vehicle on it since the ‘90s.
