One of the worst apps I’ve ever used
So unreliable, sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes there’s a storm you never set up, and sometimes the lights just don’t come on at all!
Stopped working!!!
This is the second set of lights I have bought and once again, after 18 months they just stop responding correctly via the Bluetooth app. I was reluctant to purchase the same lights twice, especially after my first set performed poorly. However, I put my faith in Tri-Spec as they convinced me the newer versions were better…….we’ll they’re not!! I run two sets in my tank and at nearly £200 per set this is once again really disappointing. The Lights are not coming on with the timer. I reset and save the times, all
Looks good but they fail to turn in. Yes I can turn them off with the master control function, but then they don’t turn off with the timer either. Also, the light strength is constantly changing by the app after I set it. Complete let down!!

Useless
This controller has a complete mind of its own and can’t be trusted. The timer had never worked, the lights don’t come on at the set time and sometimes don’t turn off. Basically manually turning them on and off via the app is all you have. For a company like interpet I really expected more. The world of apps is not new but this app and or this controller is rubbish. I am so disappointed

App doesn’t connect anymore
So I have had the Tri-Spec 2 for a few years now and I came home to the light being on red, I tried to connect through the app and it couldn’t find the device, I then unplugged and tried again and this also did not work. I then changed the battery in the controller itself and again this didn’t work so now I’m unplugging and plugging back in just for the light.

Terrible App
The unit itself is great as a straight replacement for any Juwel light unit, allowing retro fit straight into position of old lighting unit. App control however is terrible. Literally you unplug the unit for more than a second and it forgets everything it’s meant to do. It’s like playing roulette every time it loses power and has a complete mind of its own for a few days after. Not great when you have CO2 running and rely on a steady lighting unit not to gas the fish. If I had my time again I would go Fluval 3.0 and find a way of keeping the hood with it. Not great InterPet, sort it out!

Do not buy
The lights are great but the app is useless, often you can’t save the settings and customisation is limited. I’ve had this light for over a year and the developers clearly have no plans to address the issues
White light not working
When trying to set up the lights I can totally adjust the red and blue lights but the white lights will only come on when turned up to 75-100% anything less than that and the tanks in darkness making the sunset not work as it should and like others have set failed to start the blue moon and sunrise option

Good light poor app controller
Timer seemed to work for a few weeks and now it simply has a mind of its own. Doesn’t turn on at all so you have to do it manually through the app. Sunset and blue moon also not corresponding to the times set. Watched numerous videos online, reset the controller, deleted the app and re-downloaded. Been to the shop that I bought it for help who rang and spoke to an interpet rep who suggested a few things but nothing has worked. Needs an overhaul as even when it worked the interface wasn’t great.

Great Lights but the App Doesn’t Work
Just got my first tank and have installed the app. Incredibly frustrating that the timings do not work, the sunrise doesn’t come on, despite the settings. The support is poor. Really so disappointed
Absolute Rubbish
Hit and miss whether timer comes on or goes off as programmed. Blue moon function worked once then never again.
Limited functionality and having to scan everything to connect to Bluetooth is irritating. Update to WiFi controls and develop a timer that actually works - would be great. It’s a shame, the lights are good, but the app makes the whole experience very poor. Waste of money !

The lights are brilliant WHEN the app timer works
We recently upgraded our controller box at Xmas to get the newer additional features. We’ve had Tri Spec lights for years. The app was already temperamental, now it is even worse with a mind of its own! It “erased” all our timings and settings, then even after setting it all up again the timer hasn’t kicked in the following day. Normally if you turn it off manually during the night the timer restarts the next morning but this isn’t the case. Finding random light settings at random times ie red at 10pm and blue at 10am, both of which were after I’d turned them off manually. Huge disappointment because the lights and controls are brilliant but there are significant issues with the app’s internal timers.

Timers don’t seem to work
Unit fails to come on and off at the set time.
Also can’t seem to get Bluemoon to work.
Only had the unit do a Sunset once and then Bluemoon failed to come on.
Complete faff to program which is a shame as the light units them selves are rather nice.

Re Huge scope for improvement
After having used the app 2 for 4 weeks I’ve realised that it is far from sorted out. For example each morning I have to rescan and connect both my phone and the controller..not the end of the world but irritating. The system seems to have a mind of it’s own and randomly comes on and off.
I’ve developed apps myself and the user experience could definitely be improved. The timer module needs an on/ off facility and when you manually reduce the intensity of the colours the timer set up should be reflective of the adjustment.
Storm mode is ridiculous, if you want to repeatedly frighten your fish use this disco light feature. If like most of us you want and enjoy a tranquil tank then this feature should be much more subtle. I wonder if the developers actually keep fish!
So this is pretty disappointing as the controller to use the app is a separate costly upgrade.
Verdict: this is an expensive light and controller which should by now have been bug free...comm’n guys support you loyal customers.

Not impressed
Shocking!!! Interpet sort this out. On my 2nd fitting (sent by yourselves as a REPLACEMENT) and now that’s playing up. Also the APP is not fit for purpose. Updated a year ago!!! Things do move on you know!!!
Really good app, has transformed my reef tank
Love this app, so easy to use, the sunset/sunrise mode is amazing to sit and watch both my fish and corals change colours several times during it.
My only complaint is that I can’t save the intensity of the lights, I have to set it daily and once it comes round to morning it resets to the default intensity. This is absolutely fine if I am at the house but if I’m away I cannot change it, perhaps could a save button be added to the customise light section of the app?

I’m in limbo
I bought a light and app controller on the 30th of January and after 2-3 days it just turned off and I can not get the light to work even with the normal switches that come with the light,interpet sent me a new light and after 2-3 days the exact same thing happened. Now I’m stuck with 2 lights that don’t work. I bought plants that need light when I got this light so I’m going to lose them all.

Doesn’t work after IOS upgrade? The App needs an upgrade to fix this problem....Do not buy until this is fixed.

Had a new iPhone running 13.3 both lights no longer work , just brought another tri spec 2 to make sure . Nothing . what do I do now no longer have the old phone and don’t know how to back step to an earlier version of IOS which I shouldn’t have to do when is an update coming out to sort the bug .
Great if you only have one light
Please put an option in for more than one light. We have three and you have to shut down the app and rescan to reset each one. No way of naming them so it’s a bit of a guessing game as to which light you are choosing. Could be brilliant.
