BAD! Force me to subscribe to use!

I bought this app many years ago, but I hadn’t used it for quite a while. When I recently started using it again, I realized I was being forced to subscribe just to keep using it. If I don’t subscribe, the audio stops every 10 minutes!!

This is a fraud. I paid for the app when I first bought it, and now you’re asking me to pay a monthly subscription as well???? That’s ridiculous!!!

FIXED - Playlists Do Not Refresh

EDIT: Thank you for the lightning fast turnaround in fixing this issue! Updating my rating now.

I have loved this app, but now when you try to update a playlist (or add a new one), an error message occurs stating, “Failed to get data by YouTube playlist”.
I have confirmed there is not an update, and I have rebooted my phone, but nothing works. I am hopeful this is fixed, and I will gladly update my review.

Almost

This app is so close. The developers are very responsive to issues. Just a few tweaks in the performance would make it great. It’s very useful to me. I use it everyday. It’s my main source for audio content.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback. Version 1.2.5 had an issue that prevented properly seeking within long audio files. This problem has been fixed in Version 1.2.6. Please update to the latest version and try again. Thank you for your support and patience!

399 Euro?

Response from developer

Recent update

You cannot skip to different parts of the audio. It’s very frustrating with long files

Update: problem fixed. Always plays link in different language

Loved the original app. This one always plays the episodes in a foreign language different than what the link was on YouTube. Disappointing.

Update: the language problem has been fixed. The app's been working great. My only complaint now is that I wish the playlist could be renamed, but I'm upping my rating.

Will not work

The old app was good. This one will only play one maybe two songs then stops.

Not working anymore

Not working today

App used to be great not anymore

App used to be great but its now nearly unusable unless you get the paid version/‘make a donation’.
Way too many pop up prompts and audio keeps cutting after every few mins.

Nagware: Avoid

TLDR: Don’t get this app unless you want to pay the subscription.

I have used this app for years and loved it, but recently (late 2025) the app has been updated so that every time you push a button it asks you to subscribe. It pauses your audio stream randomly to ask you to subscribe. The player is great but the UI is manipulative. I get it if the developer wants to make it a subscription app, fine. But be upfront with a description of the functionality limitations if not paying the subscription. I’ll be looking for a replacement.

Nagware: Find something else.

TLDR: it isn’t worth it unless you want to pay monthly

I have been using this app for years and have loved it, but with the last few updates the developer has made it so that every time you press a button on the app it asks you to subscribe. It even pauses in the middle of things you were listening to and asks you to subscribe! Technically it works without a subscription, but the UI is getting downright manipulative. Find a different app.

Thanks for the feedback. The weekly option suits most users, and the monthly option is available for those who wish to offer additional support.

Marginally Useful to Fail

Constantly nags. Constantly fails. Was once marginally useful. Now just fail. There are better options. Cannot recommend.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. It works for most users. Would you like to provide more information about “fail” scenarios?

Gets worse

The response regarding asking £1000 to £100 to subscribe fell on deaf ears. They have changed it to 49p for 7 days which is fair but the £29.99 for the month is still laughable.

Now the new update has the player pause every ten mins to ask for subscription. Defeats the purpose of the app completely and you may as well subscribe to YouTube for more benefits with no adverts….

Maybe adding banner ads would be a better business model to generate revenue instead of the torrent of spam that the app is suffering from as it’s managed to completely break the point of this kind of app.

Used to be good. Not anymore.

I originally bought (yes bought) the old Tubecasts app years ago. For a while it was really good! Worked just fine and was super high quality! Eventually I become very annoyed that some features were being locked behind an additional paywall, but that was just the start. Later on the entire app was discontinued with this free one in its place. So the app I originally payed for has been replaced by a worse free version. Now with every update it only gets worse. It constantly stops to ask if you want to subscribe (even though I bought the original!). And with a recent update it stops mid stream! I can’t even use it to fall asleep with anymore because of that! This used to be my favorite app but I cannot recommend it after all these annoying changes. At the very least I should have had some sort of bonus for originally buying the app.

Fantastic App!

This is an awesome app. Easy to navigate. Well worth getting. Thank you!

$1200/year?

nice app but not worth $1200/year; I hope people don't greet suckered into paying $100/month

lowered to 1 star because of popups after every click; deleted

App verschlechtert sich

Die App wird leider immer schlechter.
Das abspielen funktioniert nur noch gelegentlich

Unterbrechungen nerven
