Poor layout design
This is the app my cat litter box uses. Unfortunately despite the landscape layout of app, the cat litter box is in portrait format. This cuts off a lot of history, no way to slide, enlarge, etc to see everything.

Unreasonably full of AI slop
What used to be a functional app has been poisoned by AI, and on top of all the ads filling the screen, it started to send me alerts that are just ADS. You can’t turn them off! I got woken up from sleep by an alert from the app, thinking that someone was approaching the house. It was an ad for the World Cup. AVOID TUYA AT ALL COSTS!!! What kind of trash do they think people will accept?

Inaccurate weather
The weather shown in the app is very inaccurate, at least for where I live (California). I double checked the location setting.

Wifi emergency call button
The wifi emergency call button and app work well. However, you need to have the option to change the alert tone/sound. Working in a care home, the siren sound that goes off when a patient presses the button is distressing to other patients - a simple chime would suffice. Unfortunately I’m going to have to return the call button as it’s unusable as it is.

I just received an ad about “picking a sports team” from this app. I already PAID ALOT of money for my cats automatic litter box which INCLUDED this app and now it’s giving me notifications that is NOT for my cats litter box? WHY?! This app used to be so good but if this is going to keep happening I could see a lot of people going somewhere else

I’ve spent the last hour and a half trying to download the app figure out what’s working so many options. It’s just ridiculous 😖
Not Accessible
Going back to the Brilliant app.
Pros: I can create a voice command using Shortcuts on my iPhone
Cons: If they’d a way to ask for support, it’s hidden.
I used to be able to add a light and select if it was Wifi, Bluetooth, etc. Nope. Not any more. I have to use one of their munted pre-defined options (none of them are appropriate, and there’s no way to learn what the hell a bunch of them mean to find out if I should be using them), wait for it to fail, and THEN I’ll get asked if I want to add a light using wifi or Bluetooth.
While hoping that the time my lights in pairing mode doesn’t expire, or my brain explodes from enduring a flashing light in pairing mode. Too bad if you have a disability that’s sensitive to flashing lights. Tuya have made a process that was already painful even longer/worse.
Too many times the UI to change the brightness doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t move no matter how many times I try and use it.
Also, the UI for brightness is unnecessarily close to the UI for temperature. So if the brightness is at maximum or absolute minimum, the temperature moves from extreme warmth or cool, but the brightness stays put. If I exit and reenter the light a few times, at some point it will work fine just to gaslight me.
Tapping a “tap to launch” scene doesn’t trigger the scene. It either creates a second pop-up asking me to confirm to run it, or it gives me the UI to create a new scene. This is after I’ve disabled “Double-check Tap to Run”.
If I try to turn a light on or off from the Favourites screen, everything wobbles around like I’ve asked to move things around. No way to lock it down to stop this from happening and for the app to just work.
I tried to use the “Accessibility mode”. Apparently Tuya don’t understand what accessibility wants. Rather than giving us a choice of features for us to turn on or off, depending on what our needs are. Nope. We get a whole new version of the app where the UI is bigger. So it now takes more scrolling to find what you’re looking for.
Apparently Tuya thinks accessible means everything is bigger.
Too bad if you’re colour blind and wanted a UI you can see. Too bad if you have a hand tremor and want a UI you can use.
Nope. Their version of accessibility only caters to low vision. And it does that poorly.
For example: Favourites UI is no longer available. For some reason Tuya has decided if we need their app to be accessible, we don’t get access to the same features as everyone else. Which is the entire point of accessibility.
This app wouldn’t be legal in the EU. Which is an example of why Australia needs legislation for accessibility. Because apparently “your app breaks State and Federal laws for not discriminating against people with disability or the elderly” isn’t good enough for Tuya to care.
Maybe Tuya should stop trying to crowbar AI into the app and spend more time and money on making the app they already have stable and usable by more people.
Speaking of which. The app let me make one automation using AI without a subscription… which doesn’t work.

Turn off AI assistant
How do you turn off the AI assistant thing? I just use the app for my camera and done want the big white bar in the way at the bottom. The one that says “how can I help?”. You can help by not being in the way

This app is supposed to help alert you if a loved one presses a button. It’s unacceptable that it disconnects you and is this difficult to get back into.

うまく録画されない
2台のカメラを使用してます。同じネットワーク環境下でのリアルタイムの画像の確認、録画再生は問題なく出来るのですが、外出時、外部から確認すると初回はうまくいくのですが、それ以降録画されない、接続が安定しないが続出。ひどい時はアクセスした以降全く録画されてないってこともあります。

Update the app properly
You keep updating the app with clever AI features that no one probably uses. Why don’t you update the app to make it user-friendly for most people to use. By this I mean when programming a weekly function you have to update each day separately and it is so clunky that you have to do it for an hour, not 15 minute segments. Update this app properly. Oh and each time you update the app it turns off my weekly schedule and I don’t know realise that this has happened until several days later usually.
