Great way to learn. It just throws you right in
Good start but needs work
First off, I'm using it to learn Japanese and have been using it daily for more than a week now.
The good:
- Hearing and seeing words used in context and made into simple video "flash cards" is cool. It works relatively well.
- The review feature hiding the different sections until you click is appreciated.
- Drawing practice is a nice tool, but I wish it included proper stroke order. Also, not a huge deal, but you do have to manually choose "pass" or "fail" rather than the app detecting it for you.
The bad:
- Semi-frequent bug where the audio cuts off and you have to close the lesson and reopen it to fix.
- I've seen various issues with translation of words being confusing/not quite accurate. You can report issues like this in the app, but there's no insight to if that actually does anything or if anyone has read the reports. After about a week of using the app I've found ~4 minor translation issues that I've reported through the app.
- Some of the videos are literally just the vocab word said once and that's it which feels completely useless for this type of learning.
- On "review" it asks "again, hard, good, easy" but it's not clear what that means or does. Also, it gives you no option to enter an answer, so it's more like a flashcard than a review quiz.
- What's the point of the "watch" section? It doesn't show new content with vocab you've learned (which is what I was hoping it would be for). The review section already exists, so why would I use the "watch" section..?
- The app seems to be using some kind of spaced repetition, but seems almost nonsensical in the way it determines the next review timing. To the dev: you should follow WaniKani's example more closely.
- There's no clear rhyme or reason behind the ordering of vocab lessons. Seems like words were chosen randomly? If they weren't, there was never an explanation given as to why the order is the way it is.
Overall:
I enjoy the app for what it is, but it could absolutely be much better.

AI Usage
I’ve been trying really hard to find language apps that work well with me ever since Duolingo’s intense AI usage. This app from first glance seems to be pretty good, but I immediately saw the insane amount of AI art. Disappointed.
Horrible
Downloaded the app and within 15 minutes i uninstalled it. it’s completely ran by AI, not to mention one that’s bad at its job. it was trying to show me new words by using show clips, but not only were the words completely different from what was said on screen, the definitions of the words didn’t even line up. this app is a thrown together cash grab piece of junk

This app is amazing
I really love this app and it has helped me improve my French so much in less than it week. It’s so fun an interactive being able to hear the language spoken natively in different clips from tv shows along with being encouraged to pronounce the sentences and see the breakdown of what each word means.
I wish it focused more on learning more sentences rather than focusing on certain words as much but it’s still a great tool for revision and to be used alongside other learning materials.
I defo prefer this to Duolingo and I’m on the free subscription but utilise the free units from each level along with the revision tools

Love it!
Needed something fun to learn Japanese, love the app!!
Kind of a buzz kill
I was super excited about this one as I’m definitely more of a visual learner and I’ve been trying to learn Japanese for years now. The methods were working very well and I did feel like I was improving. Unfortunately, only the first chapter is free. After the first four lessons, you have to pay a subscription service to use.

I am on the first lesson of unit two and I’m stuck behind a paywall and can’t advance at all. I thought I could at least learn a little bit free every day? But there seems to be no way or no instruction regarding how to advance except paying. I come back every day and click around trying to figure out how to learn. How do I get past this?? I have to delete the app

Ngl this app actually works like it keeps me entertained and if I make a mistake on a word it makes sure that I understand that word but I do struggle with learning the letters
Loved it until it crashed out
I was loving this for two weeks- extraordinary compared to most immersive apps- and then it stopped opening. Even resorted to full deletion of my progress for a clean install- and nothing. Supper bummed as it was すごい！

Great learning tool with glitches
Very helpful too for learning, some functions can be annoying to use because audio or video doesn’t play during mini timed tests
