No trial
Very expensive with no trial period. Minimum 3 months for $69 which is fine if you like it and it functions well but with no trial there is no way to know.
Microphone issue?!
I’ve been trying to do the lessons when it comes time to do the speak portion. The pause button seems to hear my words, but it’s not acknowledging them, and it keeps asking me to retry.
Had High Hopes But Not Impressed
I’ve been using Duolingo on and off for years, but saw the ads for Jumpspeak and thought I’d give it a try. It has great potential, as others have said, but there are a lot of problems.
Firstly, it starts off by teaching you words and then has you pull words into sentences BUT half the words in the sentences you are supposed to create have not been taught. For me, I know a fair amount of them from using Duolingo, but for someone just starting, this would be very frustrating. It is for me as well as there are still words I don’t know and haven’t been taught in the lesson that I’m expected somehow to know.
Also in the ai chat, it seems to have a predetermined set of responses and unless you respond with what it expects, the responses don’t make sense. For example I was doing a lesson where I’m supposed to be chatting with a cafe owner to get their wifi and I have to buy a coffee to do so. No problem, but when I asked “can I use your wifi?” It came back with “what is the password”?
Lastly, in some lessons it is following a short story and you do a listening, then speaking lesson of the same story but in the listening version part of the conversation is missing so it doesn’t make sense.

Absolutely Disgraceful Business Practice - Avoid
All, please be warned about how Jumpspeak operate.
They will renew your subscription without any notification, and if you don't spot it coming out of your bank account within 24 hours, they somehow think this is acceptable
App is poor, customer service is worse.
Questionable business practice at best, criminal at worst

False advertisement
First of all: paywall, if you don’t pay: you don’t use the app… ok I paid as they promised I’d be fluent in X time. No that is not true! I am now testing the app for about 3 months… not even close to being basic in the language I’m trying to learn! The app gets very hard suddenly and becomes a guessing game especially if you’re learning a language with different characters like mandarin! Big scam, I’d give one star and am filing a complaint to get my money back!
