About
The Volunteer Mentorship Initiative (VMI) is an initiative of the Tennessee Governor's Faith-Based and Community Initiative (GFBCI) in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC). VMI is a statewide effort to ensure that every eligible returning citizen released from a Tennessee state prison has access to a consistent, caring volunteer mentor.
This app is your home base as a VMI mentor. Once you're approved, it's where you complete your initial training, return for refreshers, and pull up the resources you need — whether you're preparing for a first meeting or working through a tough season with your mentee.
In the app you can:
• Complete your initial mentor training at your own pace
• Access a growing library of guides, tools, and best practices
• Connect with fellow mentors serving across Tennessee's correctional facilities
• Stay up to date on VMI news, opportunities, and support
Mentoring is most effective when no one does it alone. This app keeps your training, resources, and community within reach—so you can focus on showing up for the person who's counting on you.
Approved VMI mentors can sign in to get started. Not yet a mentor? Learn more at mentortn.org.
