Beware: Badly broken

Update: developer contacted me claiming battery drain is an
iOS 26 issue. Odd that no other app I use performs like VoiceMap, so this seems like an excuse to me. The playback stopping/tour quitting was not mentioned in the dev’s reply.

Used VoiceMap on two trips to Italy more than a year ago and it was great. But on a recent (26-07) trip the app performed terribly. Audio kept stopping during the tour, on my iPhone 17 Pro. Happened at least 5x in about an hour. About half the time the app had quit/crashed. And the app drained the battery on 2 17-series iPhones absurdly fast! Lost about 75% in just 2 hrs.

Incredible

Everything about this tour of Mantua was superb! I only wish I had discovered this author (Mike Corradi) earlier in our trip so we could have enjoyed his tours of other towns in Italy. Highly recommend.

Amazing game changer

This app is brilliant - I’ve used it all over Europe and it is now my first stop when exploring a new place

FAQ

What is VoiceMap?

VoiceMap provides self-guided audio tours for cities and museums worldwide. These tours use GPS to trigger stories and information about your surroundings as you explore, allowing you to discover places at your own pace.

How do the audio tours work?

Once you start a tour, the app uses your device's GPS to play audio content automatically as you reach specific points of interest. You can pause and resume tours at any time, and download them for offline use, including maps.

Are the tours free?

The app offers a wide selection of both free and paid tours. You can browse over 2,000 tours across 80 countries, with many free options available. Paid tours offer more extensive content and unique storytelling.

Can I use VoiceMap without an internet connection?

Yes, after downloading a tour, VoiceMap works completely offline. This includes the audio content and an offline map, making it ideal for travel without worrying about roaming fees or connectivity issues.

Who creates the tours?

Tours are produced by local storytellers, including journalists, filmmakers, novelists, podcasters, and professional tour guides. This ensures insightful and authentic narratives about the places you visit.
