Very annoyed

This app use to be amazing as the Crunchyroll app it’s self never worked on my TV so I switched to VRV as it seemed to work a lot better up until now, it is truly frustrating. Every day I get logged out of my account saying “your session expired. you were automatically logged out” it has never happened and it hasn’t even been a fully day since I used the app and it logged me out and it’s hard typing a long email on my tv remote, and also when a series has multiple versions like sub and dub and even season 2 and movies it doesn’t give the full title so I literally have to play a guessing game most the times if it’s subbed or dubbed and even on my phone is does that not just my tv, I am extremely upset that Funimation is going away because Funimation will always be better and work better for my TV, I am very disappointed and speaking off the sun and dub thing I specific series that was on Crunchyroll has the series dubbed but when it came to the VRV app it wasn’t even there I went through 5 different episodes to find dubbed to only find out there isn’t a dubbed season on VRV and yet it’s on Crunchyroll (I’ll just be going to Funimation anyways)

Major fatal flaw

The service is great, the app is great. It works as intended…. Until it doesn’t. I dealt with a minor bug for a long time. When watching offline content, if you leave the app open it will “lose” your progress on the episode. This is easily fixable by quitting the app and reopening it. The bigger issue I ran into is that I get randomly signed out. This will clear out all my downloaded episodes. Twice in one week I have had to log back into the app and redownload all my offline content. The first time it happened I lost over 100 episodes across 4 shows. I decided to lower it down to just one show but it happened again. This has happened to me a few other times, but now it’s starting to become a consistent issue that makes the app unusable to me. It doesn’t save your offline watch progress when online so I have to guess which episode to start downloading from if I haven’t been actively watching.

Channels and subscription cost

I’ve been subbed to VRV since AT&T implemented the streaming service option of choice. At the time you had plenty of channels to view but now your streaming service has lost all of the channels initially offered. AT&T is now only offering HBO max so my subscription through them will be ending soon and I am having a hard time seeing why I should continue to pay for your streaming service when that time comes. Your lack of channels is the main reason for that. The user interface is great but without content I might as well just go to Crunchyroll. Will the subscription fee be assessed and lowered due to the lack of available content? Are there plans to bring in new content? I just even realized that Hi-Dive is now gone and they had some interesting titles available. I know Crunchyroll’s app isn’t all that great for the user interface but if all you have is Crunchyroll in your lineup I might as well just start using them. Your service is $10 and I could get theirs for $8 dollars. I hope you bring in new content or revise your subscription cost. At this time your service shouldn’t cost more than $5 for the premium service because lack of content.

Sign up and login

Okay I generally like the app and I have never done one of these reviews but because I like the app I am ok so here’s the gist I am not very happy about the whole premium too download because that is what I was looking for in a anime app and the adds are also a really nuisance pretty much the same problems as the other people with that but the main and probably the only thing that sealed that I like this app I can use it on school Wi-Fi and I LOVE that but I can not sign up and when I do it says at the bottom of the screen in red “there is something wrong : (“ and I also tried to login to see if maybe it went through but it says the same thing and I don’t like it because l then have to search up for the anime and then I have to skip through the anime back to my spot and then it goes through the adds again and then it just freezes up at the app so can you please fix this please do the sign up thing first please please please PLEASE

Decent app, needs work

I’ll start off by saying the quality of the content is great. It’s a massive bang for your buck because for $10, you get access to the entire Crunchyroll library as well as Rooster Teeth, HiDive, and others. Considering the regular CR subscription is $8, there is almost no reason not to get the $10 VRV subscription which has at least 3 times more content. Video quality is pretty good as well and I like how you can access the user comments section from the app, unlike CR.

Now for the bad. The video player itself is weird to me. This might just be personal preference, but it feels cheap, kind of like the old Crunchyroll player. Second, you cannot sort shows by genre!! This is super annoying for me because sometimes I’m interested in a particular type of show, but you can’t search for that on VRV. You can only filter by network. Finally, some shows have different versions which are not clearly labeled. In my experience this only affects the HiDive content, but it’s weird to have two versions of the same show, same season, but not know what the difference is.
