Wahoo

Awesome app.

Very Good, Missing A Few Details

Very smart interface, displays everything I need on my Kickr Run treadmill. Unfortunately I can’t autolap by kilometer, however. Seems like that should be an easy fix, or better yet, allow autolap at fractional distances.

Great App

Growing up (I’m 56) I thought a stopwatch was amazing. This app is incredible.

Missing Key Features

Does not auto-calculate FTP or heart rate zones like Garmin or Apple. Required to input your FTP or THR.

Does not import data (ie. Weight) from Apple Health, the Elemnt App did.

Very poorly optimized, my phone noticeably warms up just opening it. Auto-sharing to Apple Health is inconsistent and manually doing it frequently creates duplicates.

No virtual Elemnt screen when organizing fields, instead it’s just a list. Huge miss.

When It Works

When it works it is great; how ever, I am on my second bike and third set of handle bars. The controls keep going bad. I have had the kicker bike for a year and a half. To wahoo’s credit they replaced the bike or the bars under warranty

Sub Par

This app is annoyingly sub par. I’ve had Wahoo for a long time now, and looked forward to using the new Bolt. Once I set it up, which seemed to take way too long compared to the Element App, this one has been not as good. The Element App was more intuitive, easier to set up, and the computers allowed you to turn off segments on the fly. This one, you can’t, and when you close the app you get an ANNOYING POP UP each time telling you to leave the app running. Why would I leave it running when I’m not even using my computer? It’s cheap, it’s annoying, and I’m seriously considering going to Garmin because of it.

Sync not working

Since move over to Wahoo app & Roam 3 I’ve Lost so many rides. Only way being emailing customer service. Worst some of them are for races and Lost forever. Always told it’s either Bluetooth ir WiFi. Truth is there is some issue in the app as once arriving home Roam turns off it marks activity as loaded but in reality it is not. App only allows to do it once and having to stress post ride to refresh it many times is just not why we spend so much money for track activity tracking services & supporting apps. Pretty disappointed as year on this still very much seems a common problem

Too many screens

Many people don’t monitor heart rate. Make a screen with speed/ave speed, power/ave power, time and distance. That is all majority people need.

Army Veteran

Excellent workout/ training system.

Missed my whole indoor training ride.

One hour climb ride and at the end when I tap save it records 40 seconds. Missed my whole ride. This is the second time.

Excellent app

Not mentioning any names but so much better than what I was using before. The history page is informative and well designed. The live view that displays real time parameters is comprehensive, customisable and very easy to read for someone like me who needs reading glasses but doesn’t want to wear them while cycling, for obvious reasons. Fantastic app.

Great app!!

Issues using trainer

Can’t use the trainer doesn’t let me start my work out

Out of date

App has not been updated to work with apple OS26. It cannot connect to the Tracker device. It no longer connects with phone GPS, ie, does not tell you how far you have cycled.

Lagging and Suboptimal

Who knew it takes longer to get the wahoo running than actually just riding outside. Sitting with a black screen on my bike not riding for 30 min….. not exactly what you pay hundreds of dollars for is it.

Bugged.

“Check for firmware update” button doesn’t work. Thanks for making expensive equipment obsolete on such a minute detail.

Frustratingly Inconsistent App

I originally started using the Wahoo app to record my indoor cycling rides and upload my power and cadence data to Strava using my Favero Assioma power pedals paired to the app.

On my first few rides, I actually found the app insightful and promising enough that I decided to try the paid version.

Unfortunately, I quickly realized the app was far too unreliable to justify paying for it. Even with recorded rides, it was basically a 50/50 chance whether the workout would successfully upload within the app itself.

Because of the constant glitches, I canceled the subscription and went back to the free version.

The free version is so frustrating on the basic end. Many rides simply fail to upload to Strava. Even when attempting manual uploads, they often fail repeatedly despite multiple retries, restarting my phone, signing out and back in, and other troubleshooting steps. At a certain point, the app becomes exhausting to deal with.

What makes this especially frustrating is that when you finish a hard ride expecting the app to do the one thing it is supposed to do, which is reliably record and sync your workout data, and instead you end up with nothing to show for it.

I know this issue is specifically related to Wahoo because my Apple Watch heart rate data uploads to Strava without issue, and I tested another cycling app that recorded and synced my rides successfully using the same equipment.

I ultimately deleted the Wahoo app and switched to an app called “Cadence” instead.

I had even considered investing in Wahoo smart bikes or bike trainers at one point, but after this experience, I simply cannot trust the reliability of their software ecosystem when even the basic ride recording and syncing experience is this inconsistent.

Very disappointing experience overall.
