Where are all the recipes?

Why are the recipes from Waitrose Weekeend not available on this app? Very frustrating as have to save them in some other way rather than all together on the app. Also hard to find recipes unless you know exactly what you are looking for, there should be more sections to browse, perhaps by cuisine etc.

Error While Downloading Collection

Love the recipes but today I am unable to view any via the Search function. Instead, I am being asked if I want to Download any selected (I don’t think that used to happen), and when I select to download then I get the message “Error while downloading collection” for anything selected. I can download and view the magazines themselves, but individual recipes are no longer accessible, which makes the app much less useful. I hope this issue can be fixed quickly.

Horrible update

Sadly the app, which I used to love, is nearly ruined for me. What is the point of telling me that I can only receive updates if I’m connected to WiFi? I know! The joy of this app was downloading onto my iPad whilst in WiFi, and reading on the train. Now I can’t save recipes or even bookmark pages where I used to enjoy reading it most, on the train. Useless update. It’s even worse now. I would give zero stars if I could. I don’t want just the recipes on the app, but want to read the articles. Besides, you are missing a trick Waitrose I would shop from the magazine. So bad.

Good app but keeps crashing

I use this app a lot for the great recipes it provides but recently it has begun crashing every time I select the search box. I do not even get a chance to type anything, it crashes immediately. This happens every time and means I cannot search for new recipes which reduces the usefulness of the app considerably.
I'm running version 3.0.4 on macOS Ventura 13.0.1 on an M1 processor.

Good content but iPad users will need a chiropractor

New user so don’t have any of the historical grumbles many users seem to have - the main problem is the app is portrait only. I only have landscape stands so in the kitchen it’s either propping up the iPad against somewhere precarious or having to crane my neck around 90 degrees

Where has it gone?

This App has been tremendous. I have been self isolating for over a year and had so much pleasure and information from being able to read current snd past Waitrose monthly food magazines. They have disappeared from my screen despite being downloaded. Please bring them back! I have relied on them as my go to recipe and food article bibles.

Please fix

Always been a loyal fan of waitrose because of its high quality products/service/magazines/apps. This app was an awesome way to read waitrose magazine and I love the save and search function so much.

However after an update the app became so slow, and I could no longer view the previous magazines and had difficulty even to open the new ones(verrrry slow...). Very inconvenient especially in this time of pandemic (don’t want to pick up virus by picking up the printed copies in shop!)

Please could you fix this waitrose? I have faith in you!

Great app, even better than the magazine

I see no issues with the app on the iPad, it is fluid, well laid out, and mostly there are bonus recipes that are not featured in the paper version. Just what I expect from Waitrose: good quality, excellent customer forethought, and (contrary to common belief) good value!

Not Great

New to the App but immediately lost in it’s methods. I downloaded the App because of a pointer from the paper magazine, about ice cream recipes. Wish I hadn’t, then I found the warning signal, a “How to use the App” page. Read that and to me, it seemed an illogical system. I tried with my new knowledge but got lost easily.
Others may like it but I can’t stand such things.

Grumpy old man? Yep. Why do I like logic and or easy, obvious App controls? Retired programmer that’s easily annoyed by things that are not built to work nice, simply & in a straight forwards manner.

Disappointed

Downside, no X at the end of the search engine, this makes searching longer and annoying.

Downloaded issues, where are they? they say they have downloaded but every time I click to read, which is still as though not downloaded, it throws me out the app and I have to start all over again.
Come on Waitrose get this sorted, I would have expected better from you guys. 😬

I cannot believe Waitrose did this

All the classical rules of UX are just broken, no confirmation of actions, no system status, no feedback, no flexibility and no personalisation. Oh my god I’m sooo upset, because I do really love the magazine and the recipes, but I just cannot continue using this app. Collecting all the paper versions of the magazine is impossible, not environmentally friendly and takes ages to find the meal you are looking for. Please, please, hire a proper designer and developer and fix this. Can’t believe it is possible it is still possible in the 2019 🤦🏻‍♀️

Please stop ‘upgrading’ your app

I, too, had many years of past issues saved only to find them gone one morning. This app has been “upgraded” three times in the last five years and each successive upgrade makes the app less functional and aesthetically pleasing. It’s a shell of the magazine it once was. Such a disappointment from such a magnificent grocery chain.

Not an improvement!

I downloaded the update with optimism as I really enjoy the waitrose magazine and frequently reread previous on line magazines for inspiration. However after looking at the new version I was absolutely gutted that I no longer had access to my library of previous magazines.

In my opinion this update is not an improvement but a backwards move and from now on I will collect the hard copy from the store and this will then enable me to reread previous content when I feel like being inspired. It’s sad that I now have to resort to this. I am also concerned about the environmental impact this will inevitably cause.

Amazing recipe search

Just downloaded the new Waitrose food app and it’s fantastic. It’s a shame the old issues aren’t available but you can search past recipes which is brilliant. Going to start saving all my favourite recipes. I think the new recipe page design is really simple but perfect. I like seeing the ingredients and method together.

What on earth!

Why has the library of previous issues disappeared... you do not get inspiration for daily cooking by searching for a recipe but by browsing through recipes, in the same way you do a recipe book.... please please reinstate this functionality, which reduces paper, increases usage by being completely portable.... I am really disappointed to find that my most used collection of recipes has disappeared, and with no warning whatsoever!

Disappointed to say the least

Loved the old Waitrose app, it was great to browse magazines from previous months and the features were all great. New app is pretty m8ch useless, very awkward to use and not at all intuitive. The “library” only has the last magazine in it for some reason and still haven’t found a way to browse the older issues. And lastly, why on earth is the third party tracking automatically turned on for Google Analytics and FACEBOOK of all things?! Very very disappointed. Wish the old app was still available for download. Very unlikely I’ll be using this one much

Removes all content pre may 2019

I had issues dating back to 2015, all were erased when upgrading and will no longer work in the app.

Why no landscape mode?

It’s iPad compatible so it should support both portrait and landscape mode. Does not appear to respond to rotating the iPad and I could not find an option to rotate to use landscape orientation.
For those of us that use iPad cases with stands (where propping the iPad up in landscape orientation is more stable) or keyboard cases this app is a pain to use.
There are enough examples of how to do this properly - Apple Books, Kindle etc.
And why do you need my email address to save recipes, you already have my myWaitrose number surely you can tie that to the email I registered it with? Lazy developing.

Could do with more flexibility

Great pics, would be lovely to search recipes without having to download the mag and why oh why can’t you re-order categories (or perhaps even recipes - haven’t tried yet??) once you’ve input these. Leaves what you look for first at the bottom of the list as you make new categories, which is irritating for later searching

What happened to the search function?

Used to be a brilliant app which I relied upon for organising all of my Waitrose recipes. From about a year ago, however, I’ve been unable to search recipes appearing in the magazines by ingredients. I’m assuming there is a reason for this. But means i’m no longer able to use it as a tool for finding recipes based on ingredients I have and types of recipes I want to make. Very frustrating!
