Wired app doesn’t work on iPad

I’ve contacted wired. No answer.

Abysmal- Shame on Condé Nast

Wired is not a neighborhood church newsletter but the app runs it as if it is. All we get is a picture of each page of the magazine. No hot links. No jumping to your article. No reading your article - unless you enlarge the page with your finger, then slide it around to find where it continues. I subscribed to the paper copy for some years. My app subscription
is three hours old and I’m appalled.

Garbage app from a bad alternate reality

Wired has an incredibly dated app that makes it all but impossible to access your subscription and actually read an article. It’s like someone in the 90s designed the app and then they just never changed it. I just read it online and I won’t renew my subscription when it expires.

Won’t update with most recent issue

Now won’t show most recent issue. Shows all past issues. It says I have an active subscription and I have linked the print version to the subscription. Was working fine for years but now broken. Have tried logging out and back in, uninstalling app and reinstalling. Nothing works!

Great magazine, terrible app design

My mom could vibe code a better app than this, and she’s 70 years old. The days of just simply uploading the print version of your magazine and calling it a mobile app are long gone. Wired needs to completely redesign this app and make it a multiple version of their website, optimized for the iPhone screen. If you wanna just upload the print version of your magazine for the iPad, that’s fine. That’s a non-starter for an iPhone app.

Can’t use the App unless you agree to it to share your information

I purchased a 1 year subscription and decided to download this App. I went to sign in (hoping to be given an option to set up an account), but instead I got a pop up that read, “Wired Wants to Use ‘I’d.condenast.com’ to Sign In This allows the app and website to share information about you”.
WTH? I couldn’t get past that pop up and there was no other way to set my new account so that I could use the App! What is wrong with these people??? Is everything - even WIRED - now a Grift?? So low class of them. Furious!

It’s like having a pdf of hard copy

Why is this app so clunky? All you get is pictures of the hard copy. Meanwhile, as a subscriber I’m getting paywalled out of articles linked from social media. Why subscribe?

Impossible to navigate

I cannot get anything or anybody to help in navigate, good news if you want to get to page 80you can get there by swiping 1-79 one full page at a time …….there is no help from their help line either …….it not “helps” problem and they just pass the problem off to a third party, who assumes no responsibility….while I haven’t checked recently I have never had this problem with their New Yorker mag app that while changes are often annoying they always work for me.

Cancelled, still charged

Beware they make it impossible to cancel. I cancelled, then was auto renewed despite cancelling. Then supposedly my account could not be found but I’ll be getting auto charged $65 a year forever because you can’t manage to cancel my account. So, strongly advise to never ever subscribe to Wired for anything period.

Stop the logouts!

This is insane, every couple of days I have to log back in, what on the Earth is your token refresh policy? I’ve never seen that before.

Where’s the news???

It makes so little sense that you don’t have the same articles that are available in your newsletters and the website, especially for a tech magazine.

Beautiful journalism, terrible mobile experience

The WIRED app is basically unreadable on a phone. The “digital issues” are just tiny print-page replicas that require endless zooming and panning. I genuinely don’t understand why there’s no proper text/reader mode for mobile devices. Great journalism, terrible mobile reading experience.

Paywall is obnoxious and has been for years

Every time I try to read an article or use the app I get stopped by the pay wall which sometimes doesn’t even recognize my login. It used to forget my password requiring a reset, doesn’t like working in foreign countries either

Wired app

Does not work - can’t access with subscription

Garbage App

I cancelled my subscription because of this app format. How is it that the FTimes and Economist can figure this out but Wired and Conde Nast cannot? Jesus! Hire new tech devs and UX teams.

Needs more than just the magazines

This app’s functionality is extremely limited. You’d expect to be able to view and read stories as presented on the website, but you cannot. You can only view and download digitized versions of the print magazines. Other publications which use the same app framework for their mobile experience do this. I expect better from a tech publication, especially one i pay for.

Bad photocopy

Yes, oh, that was done. Was that they photo copied every page. A huge waste of opportunity.

Weaker every year

Wired used to be monthly and leading the technology revolution. Now, this app is verges on being pathetic after repeated downgrades and feature removals.

It’s little more than a PDF viewer with terrible session management that constantly logs you out only after a few days. The lack of font sizing means you are reduced to pinch to zoom for everything. This may be partially due to the variable layout, but could be made adjustable or more flexible if it wasn’t wedded to the print version.

The articles are still worth reading, but the app has become a source of frustration.

Needs improvement

As a reader, when I open the app - I should see a bookshelf with the magazine issue I am currently reading and open up to current bookmark. The app doesn’t save progress currently and that needs to be fixed.
Favorites section has bugs where it saves two pages instead of one when starred. When I access a bookmark the magazine issue should load and I should be able to continue reading the entire issue from the bookmark. Currently only the two pages are saved with no access to the whole issue.

Log outs

Getting logged out every few days uselessly, this is either a major bug or a token refresh policy that’s way too strict and short. I’ve been a subscriber for 15 years by the way, do better! You’re a tech journal!
