WRAL News fails viewers through its lack of objectivity…

Their lack of objectivity along with their leftist agenda while supporting the status quo does not serve the best interests of NC’s citizenry. The NBC affiliate has reported numerous stories concerning the swarms of teenagers and young adults talking over certain areas of Raleigh that suddenly turn violent, as they should report. The one thing they turn a blind eye to is calling out the leadership of Wake County. Particularly the Raleigh Police Department and the Wake County Sheriff’s Department. Seemingly oblivious to the recent trends involving a frightening number of young men creating havoc in predetermined areas of Raleigh. These two law enforcement agencies do a poor job monitoring social media and find themselves consistently reacting, rather than an increasingly proactive approach. Will WRAL call out the leadership of these “tarnished” law enforcement departments? Will they take it a step further by asking the tough questions of Raleigh’s elected leadership? We already know the answer.

Fix the tracking

Why do I have to “customize” my choices every time I load an article??? I save my choices every time!!!

Notification Spam

This app will send “breaking news” notifications that tells you what’s coming up on the next broadcast no matter how mundane the topic may be. They have different categories for their push notifications but ignore the settings and send irrelevant notifications daily

Lottery

My NC lottery has not updated since May 27. Is there a problem?

Impossible to change video settings

Cuts my sound off on other apps and automatically plays videos - very frustrating.

Click jacking

If you are unfamiliar with the term this app is an excellent example of it.

Auto plays videos randomly

Still have never addresses the most annoying thing in the world. I just want to open the app and scroll news stories while listening to Apple Music, Sirius XM, etc. and this thing totally hijacks my audio and starts playing news stories I haven’t clicked on. And yes, I have it set to NOT automatically play videos in settings for the app.

Auto plays videos randomly

Oat the most inopportune time this app starts to auto play video clips. Just the first second or so. Very annoying.

New app

WRAL app is too busy, too many duplicate stories show. Should have left it alone. Go back to old app

Poor user experience

It’s really frustrating that there are constant push notifications for stories but when you click on the notification it does not take you to the story you want to read and most of the time that story isn’t even on the homepage and you have to dig for it it’s just a poor user experience. Also frustrating when there is breaking news or time sensitive weather alerts where every second counts we are forced to watch ads first. Totally get needing ads to support but like maybe not when there’s a tornado warning

Broken autoplay setting

I would rather send you feedback directly but since that doesn’t seem to be a thing… I hope you read the reviews. I have autoplay turned off in the settings, it auto plays anyway.

Ads

I click to get weather updates, not ads after every time I look it up. Stop w the ads please

Intrusive and obnoxious

I had to delete this app. Every time I would open it, was meet with large whole screen-sized ads. After closing those it would automatically play a live stream, which has the smallest button possible to close that. Then even after closing, every news article I read would override any music, phone call, even apple car play with whatever video regarding that, after of course more ads.

If that wasn’t enough, the Wral video banner sticks around on my phone and takes up my ENITRE close screen for HOURS, until I manually force close the app. I’ve never had an app so desperate to force you to watch their streams.

Not to mention every article has so many random, sketchy click baity ads, I feel like I’m reading a random tabloid site.

This is NOT what I expect for a respected news station that serves a large area.

Ok - to much advertising

I love WRAL - however way too much advertising just to get into the app or read about a story.

This WAS a good news app…. Now, not so much.

This was a top shelf news app until about two years ago. Now, they post headlines that don’t contain any articles, the same stories are posted multiple times, inaccurate locations are given in news articles, and the app is loaded with multiple clickbait ads that open to questionable sites if you barely touch them as you scroll. It’s also impossible to send feedback if you’re not using Apple’s native email app, but even if you could send feedback, they only respond with excuses and don’t do anything to make improvements. I gave two stars only because they don’t post a bunch of political articles, otherwise this app deserves zero stars.

Invasive on iOS

Have found no way to force it to stop playing even after minimizing the app, except for manually forcing it closed. Apps should include turning off the iOS live feature to prevent this invasive nature.

Was good….

Vague news articles that don’t contain any useful information, same stories posted multiple times, inaccurate locations in news articles, ads that open to questionable sites if you barely touch them as you scroll. I gave two stars only because they don’t post a bunch of political articles, otherwise this app deserves zero stars.

Local Coverage Very Good

Local Coverage is very good and thorough but it is very LEFT, LIBERAL focused Politically. Not Neutral. I read or listen to WRAL less in the last 3 years than in the past.

Not everything needs to be breaking news imo

I downloaded this to receive news updates, disabled the majority of notifications and left only “breaking news” enabled. I’ve received 27 notifications in half a day, 3 just in the last five minutes

The local board voting to build a middle school, students playing an Epstein themed video game and an election results delay, in my opinion, didn’t need to be sent as 3 separate push notifications

maybe some people enjoy the constant dopamine of random information but it’s too much
