2.2.0
August 11, 2026
Hey all, xaround v2.2.0 is here! This one took a while. It's the biggest update since the rebuild, and it's mostly the things people have been asking me for. What's new: 1. Reply threads. Replies now nest properly. Open any reply to read its own thread, and follow the chain all the way back to the original post. 2. Up to six photos or GIFs per post or reply. They show as a swipeable carousel with a full-screen gallery. Pinch with two fingers to peek at an image without leaving the feed, and GIFs now have a scrub bar so you can step through them frame by frame. 3. Repost and quote. Share a post or reply as-is with a repost, or add your own take with a quote. Everything you repost collects in a new Reposts tab on your profile. 4. Search is finally here. Find people, posts, replies, and hashtags. Start your query with @ or # to jump straight to the right tab. Your recent searches stay on your device and are never sent anywhere. 5. Private accounts. Make your account private and approve who follows you. Follow requests arrive in their own inbox where you can accept or decline them. 6. Remove a follower. You can now quietly remove someone who follows you, without blocking them. They are never told. 7. @mention auto-complete. Start typing @ and pick someone from the list. Mentions, hashtags, and links now turn blue while you type, so what you see in the composer is exactly what will be linked once you post. 8. Social links on your profile. Add up to ten: X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch, Discord, Reddit, Steam, GitHub, and Riot Games. Drag to reorder them, and hide any you would rather keep to yourself. Tapping one opens the app directly if you have it installed. 9. New notifications for reposts, quotes, follow requests, and activity in threads you're part of. Each one has its own toggle in Settings. Also improved: • The composer toolbar stays put when the keyboard is dismissed, and attachments now preview exactly as they will look once posted. • Post and reply toolbars have been reordered, with reply, repost, and like counts shown inline. • The reply composer no longer pre-fills the author's handle, so your reply starts empty. • Copy Username has been added to the profile menu. • On iPad, communities open in their own column, and forms like Edit Profile and Report no longer stretch across the whole screen. • Long-press any image for Share, Save to Photos, Copy, and Open in Safari. • Sign-out, push notification taps, drafts, and profile loading should all be more reliable now. And many, many more fixes behind the scenes. --- Thanks for using xaround and being here! :) – Nik Fikri
